Spicy Calabrese & Ventricina Salami

  • To make pizzas as authentic and delicious as any pizzeria in Italy, our starting point has always been the base. From a 'mother dough' starter, we create sourdough pizza bases in the traditional Neapolitan style. After slow-proving for 24 hours, we fire then in a wood oven before we add our toppings by hand.
  • We use a combination of three different cured meats on this pizza. Ventricina salami gives a delicately smoky flavour, while the Calabrese salami brings some heat. Over this, we hand-crumble spicy Pepperoni that turns crispy once baked. With the creamy fior di latte mozzarella and a sprinkling of chilli flakes, this is how the Italians do a meat feast.
  • In Italy, few things matter more than good food. It's a deep-rooted belief in the power of food to bring people together, a belief we share at Crosta & Mollica.

The best supermarket pizza ever. Super hot

I love this pizza, but Tesco now do their own Tesco Finest frozen salami pizza for £3.50 all the time that, IMO, is easily the equal of this. Worth checking out.

Have to go against the majority here. The few times I've had these I've found them to be rather underwhelming.

Me too - nothing special. I normally buy Aldi Specially Selected and found this Crosta one similar taste but more expensive.

Morrisons has the 2 pack of this pizza for £4.75 currently. Just been there but bought the fresh version of this pizza which tastes much better than the frozen version.

    The 2-pack contains small pizzas.

The fresh deluxe sourdough pizza from Lidl is excellent.

Sourdough pizza with yeast in its ingredients

Every sourdough contains yeast. If they didn't, they'd need yeast to be added.

These are great, the Margherita ones don't have ultra-processed ingredients either! (edited)

Anyone idea why they vanished from Tesco Northern Ireland?
    spermint's avatar
Yeah, very annoying 😔 I remember they reduced them to clear at my Tesco so I thought they were leaving Tesco altogether. Then I found out just seemed to be NI stores. (edited)

    Never forget Freschetta

Yes, they were so good. Still haven’t found a suitable replacement after all these years.

Why does packaging look like old fashioned Tesco value?

The 2 pack are much smaller at 218g each. This offer is much better

Same price at Amazon Fresh if that's more convenient for anyone.

    Why so expensive, cold
    jon81uk's avatar
Don't think its that expensive for a quality product. But if you prefer cheap stuff then go to Iceland.

This brand changed my view of frozen pizza entirely. Not sure what they do differently, but they are delicious, and so handy to have a few in the freezer for those nights you want an easy cook.

These are lovely, and one of the best supermarket pizzas. So this is a great deal imo.

Personally though, I really love Lidls Deluxe Pinsa Pizza, can be found in the Frozen section.
They are far superior to most and is a focaccia style base.

Oh yes, time to stock up on my stromboli!
  17. movienerd2019's avatar
    Great for burning ya mouth
  18. What_Face's avatar
Papa Johns XL for £11.99 is significantly better value (kcal per £) than this. Potentially this tastes better but something to think about.
  19. Fuzzarr's avatar
    This is really quite yummy
  20. ttlpjh's avatar
The two pack frozen seem to have a severe lack of cheese, a few shavings per pizza. Are these any better?
  21. Seft's avatar
The chilled one is better, but currently more expensive (£5 Sainsburys, £5.75 Morrisons, £6 Waitrose)
    Cheeter's avatar
My Waitrose only ever has the 2 pack of miniature pizzas, which aren't as good as the full size. Does yours have them?
  22. Jasparuk91's avatar
Pity the Margherita isn't suitable for vegetarians
    HellriderUKDeals69's avatar
    Oh, that's a shame!
  23. alasrati's avatar
Shame it's not the fresh one.

    These are nothing special

    Best frozen pizza
  26. YinYang's avatar
I like these pizzas a lot, but yeah, they are hot, at least for the first couple of bites 'til you get used to it!
  27. jayok's avatar
I get the Crosta & Mollica fresh base (£2.35 in both Sainsburys and Morrisons) and have the toppings I prefer
  28. joe.keran's avatar
    Expensive for cheese on toast
    pukenukem's avatar
That's the sort of thing I'd say to my Italian neighbor to trigger him...actually I might use this.
