A great price. It is worth bearing in mind that April is the hottest month of the year in Thailand.

    Review of Expedia.co.uk

I've used them a few times and never…
I've used them a few times and never had any problems, but clearly by the reviews they are now shocking.

My experience, book a hotel, pay deposit, does not show in itinerary, use site to email myself a copy of my itinerary and it shows, but still cant log in and see it. Use online chat, they call me and connect me to another team, that team works for reservations.com and has nothing to do with expedia, try online chat again and given a number in Italy to call. Find a number for UK and call that, speak to Agent to be told they cannot service me and to call a different number in Italy (the trip is to Iceland btw).

Self check-in hotel, the hotel sends you an email to allow you to check in, guess what Expedia did not forward on?

Go to Trust Pilot and read the reviews. (edited)

I’d personally recommend travelling to maybe 3 different spots at least for 2 weeks in Thailand. Internal flights are pretty cheap and there are so many great places to see. I think you’re missing out if you don’t visit Chiangmai in the north, but it helps a lot if you’re comfortable riding a moped. I loved riding around to visit hot springs and national parks or other stunning spots.

I ended up touring round koh samui one night on the back of a moped, after meeting some girls in a bar. Happy days!

Not sure l would spend two weeks in Patong, but cheap and convenient to have days out to all the other beaches along the coast using the Phuket Smart Bus

    phuketsmartbus.com/phu…ng/

    Kamala beach really nice.

Definitely worth the deal, use it as a base and travel to different parts (CM or krabi etc) on super cheap flights just with a backpack (while u leave the not so necessary lugging around stuff at this hotel). I've done it twice but using Bangkok as the base. Best holidays ever
    David18's avatar
Yeah this is basically what I just said. Spending 2 weeks in Phuket just seems like such a waste imo! Agree with CM - the north is stunning and so cheap. And around krabi is nice - would really recommend railay beach as well, if you like places with a hippie vibe and the devil’s lettuce!

Just remembered one main thing I didn't like about Thailand as with alot of touristy countrys was local businesses will always try rip you off...
I remembered going to a food place and was given a menu which was for the locals by mistake, his manager told the guy to exchange for another menu which had exactly the same food but at much higher pricing aimed at foreigners... I got annoyed and asked for the original menu back and told I will only pay the pricing on that menu or I will leave. This happened on several places we ate at..
I did find some honest local food places from TripAdvisor. I would tip these places and will go back again for being honest and fair.
Defo do some research on how much things are approximately before you buy as even things may look cheap the seller could be charging you triple what they charge locals

I can understand your views on this common two-tier pricing but got to bear in mind what the locals get paid compared to tourists (often less than equivalent of a dollar per day). It's true and annoying that are a generally small minority who may try to properly scam people (gem deals, vastly overpriced transport/excursions etc) but I generally find the two-tier system aceptable since allows for both locals and tourists to share the same facilities, plus you get to mingle : )

Ive spent 14 weeks in phuket over the resorts of kamala, karon and kata and these are the best beach resorts on the island in my mind , patpong is to trashy girly bar scene.

    Good price.

We were there just before Christmas staying at the Doubletree, which was nothing like a Doubletree in the UK or Ireland!

I landed in Bangkok around 30 years ago as a 20 something and I think saw the place before tourism became massive, I saw everything literally, Now I was single back in the day and went as part of four young lads. My question is having never been back I have one grown up daughter and two teenagers is there a place(s) I could take them as a family without having how do I put this, female attention if you get my drift. Thanks
    ArchBants's avatar
They're not interested in you if you're walking as a family. All the sleeze is very focused in one or two strips, the rest is perfectly family friendly.

If you go out walking in those sleezy areas as a single man, then yes you'll have plenty of offers for ping-pong shows, ladies company at the bar etc. But that is honestly only limited to a very small part of Patong. The rest is grand, and if you get out of Patong then the rest of Phuket is very family friendly with lots to keep teenage kids entertained.

I don't like the sound of the hotel - if they start off calling themselves "minimal" it can only go down after that. :-)

Surely it can only go up?

Phuket has a lot to offer, but for this price it’s worth using this as a base and visiting Krabi too, much nicer there in my opinion. I wouldn’t want to stay in Patong for this amount of time.

2 weeks is too long in 1 place, unless you plan to travel a bit it's worth the price but not the time (edited)

I always go on 2 week beach holidays , i wouldn't even consider going somewhere for a week

Great deal. Personally I'd hate 2 weeks here , sleazy and tourist trap spring to mind, and the sea is starting to get rough at this time of year. But we're all different and look for different things in a holiday - so it will definitely suit some.
I'd agree totally with those that suggest that this place be used as a base for further travel once the charm of the place wears off. The islands are on the doorstep and places like Chiang Mai are easily reachable. Transport is easy and cheap - don't forget the trains. Bangkok will be pretty hot and humid at this time and there's a lot of dust in the air from all the subway/new road construction so maybe best avoided. Heat.

Phuket is a large island, it really depends where you stay. To say it's all sleazy is a stretch. Just avoid Patong and the rest of the island is beautiful

Is it possible to survive here if you have mobility issues?
  27. Aventus's avatar
Is it good for two adults & one baby?
    mudcat's avatar
Not sure about the specific hotel but Phuket and Thailand in general perfectly fine for such (dependent a bit on age of baby!). If have any medical issues whilst away, Thai private medical clinics are generally very staffed and maintained, and dirt cheap compared to what might expect from a UK perspective. Insect repellent and suntan lotion is a lot cheaper here from likes of B&M/Home Bargains etc.
Make sure you both and child have appropriate vaccinations (I've never bothered with rabies and there's 'no' yellow fever in Thailand) and if make a little effort to avoid being (overbitten) by mosquitoes (or dogs) then am sure you'll be fine : )
