which is better please?
The TP-links look slightly better on paper (150Mbps 4G limit rather than 100Mbps - but the same 4G bands/frequencies) and comes from an actual brand - but things like this it's hard to say which is better until you've tried using them both. (edited)
- The need to constantly switch your SIM card between your phone and this product.
- The cost of this product.
As for leaving this product in the caravan, presumably with your SIM card, doesn't that mean you're taking a SIMless phone out with you?
If you go away & cannot get a signal on your own phone or go abroad you can use a native sim or a sim that works in the area & just top it up for 2 weeks or for however long & use your phone for calls rather than get hammered on data charges.
Or you could just buy a second phone for that purpose that would undoubtably cost more.
If your sim allows roaming for free within the data limits then it is free. If it charges for roaming you will get charged.
So you need a sim to put in it that allows roaming on a contract or PAYG top up or you buy a local data sim for the country you are going to. (edited)
