It doesn't have much of a beach, but if the weather is good, the so called "Beach Clubs" (no beach involved) were heavenly when I went at the turn of the century.

Mahal was the name of one that I remember fondly.

We did go back to Kalkan about 8 years ago and it had grown enormously, but it still had a nice vibe.

There's an absolute ton of archeological sites nearby too if that's your thing. (edited)

I'd hire a car if you get bored easy. Dalamans just a tourist town. Get 15 miles away for plenty of other more interesting options. There's Istuzu Beach - you'll be left alone at that time of year - plenty of ancient ruins, a nice lake and various other things to keep you entertained, but you'll die of boredom in Dalaman. This is Kalkan, an hour and a bit from Dalaman. It's quite nice - but like most places has grown exponentially over the past 20 years or so. Bear in mind it's really quite steep going up from the harbour. Kaş (“cash“) is nearby and the most easterly Greek island of Kastellorizo is about a mile offshore from Kaş, both worth a visit.

Nice hotel, we stayed here a couple of years ago, great location and the staff were so friendly and welcoming.
Kalkan has changed a lot over the last 10 years or so, and will probably continue to do so as it’s a great place to holiday.

It’s a loverly place. 2 hrs from the airport but stunning scenery . Kalkan is very steep but taxis cheap and will quite happily shuttle you about. No beach to speak of there are big beach clubs /pontoons on the harbour front. Cheaper restaurants higher up the hill, it’s a expensive resort compared to most in Turkey but you can find some cheaper resturants .
