As a result I'm unsure of the criteria at this time. Our purchase was at a Delxue Hotel.

For anyone looking at this - and who is going to prefer to use a Disney on resort hotel rather than hire car / villa - then I’d like to add - I’m going this year from the uk and have done a LOT of research into a lot of aspects. This is a good deal if you are planning to go for the following basic reasons :
1. Dining plan is of value. Depends on how you milk it, but if you are staying on resort (a Disney hotel) then it pays off. The price if food everywhere there is crazy so getting credits pays off. This is one of the best deal options you can get from Disney after the 14 4 7 ticket deal. They stopped it for a few years and now it’s gone back.
2. Staying on resort means you get benefits of tangible value. For example , you can prebook dining and other bits at 60dsys in advance instead of off resort people who can only book 30days out. This actually makes a huge difference in securing spots at places you like the look of, for free, and then you can decide later on site if you want to use the reservations. Reservations for dining in most cases are saturated so this helps you a lot. One key benefit not mentioned a lot is on resort guests can book lightning lanes at 7am instead of 9am - it’s the only way sometimes to get the very very popular rides (google it). Also location on resort is obvs better but more expensive due to that. The downside is the Disney buses are often slow so just be ready for that (take an Uber when you need to it’s cheap).
3. Dining plan covers quick service options so you don’t have to do full table service dining all the time if you don’t want it - it could be drinks , snacks , fast items. It’s dependent on some outlets so check the fine print.
4. You can cancel or amend with Disney if you find better deal or change your trip. Some people add or remove the paid for dining plan at 2 months out after researching it . Check the fine print from disney tho.
And finally :
5. The last two weeks of August are a very good time to go for crowds if you can’t go outside school holidays. Florida schools start back mid August or first week - and weather (albeit hot and sone showers) is ok. Crowds wise - the less crowds, less queueing and faff and more time doing fun stuff. I’m going in August partially for this reason but have no idea until I get there what it’ll be like.
If you are thinking of a trip - I’d research based on tips online via YouTube posters (who walk you thru it all, often on site) and especially touringplans.com which is genius. The reality these days given all the crowds , Disney systems and time constraints of a visit , that You cannot just go to WDW without prep. It’s just not realistic. it’s just too much of a logistical crazed environment to not plan it out. You don’t want to be standing in 90min queues in the Florida heat when with a bit of strategy you can avoid it and use the hacks. You don’t want to miss out on seeing rise of the rebellion because you thought you could just walk up and get on the ride instead of booking a slot at 7am like 20000 other people did….
Good luck! (edited)
