I don’t get the actual hate for this stuff. Yes compared to decent beer it’s second rate. Not everyone though wants to get ratted though and for just knocking back something cool and wet AND way better tasting than no alcohol slop, this fits the bill. Ok I won’t drink it unless it’s handed out free at a barbecue but it’s okish, it tastes better than Bud which really is rank. It’s on a similar level to Carling and Carlsberg and possibly a little better to Lidl/Aldi “cooking lager”, their own brands they brew in France at la-cheap price and unfortunately varying quality batch by batch

You’ve hit the nail on the head.

Most people don’t care about quality or taste and will happily drink this.

Aldi stuff is genuinely better when you get a good batch, I’ve got a pack of Rheinbacher and it’s a good batch so far.

Big companies not immune to bad batches, I’ve got a box of Peroni Red Top and some of the bottles haven’t been good.

Marginally better than Carling, but it's a very low bar.

I have basic lager requirements, will drink most...but this? No.

Great deal — Buy a couple of these and stack up the fridge to save your proper lager like Peroni / Moretti etc from getting taken by the household beer thieves.

Used to be good years ago just like carling but now both are piss poor

I stopped drinking alcohol this year, so this is a great deal for me.

Is it still so weak you can't get drunk on it. Haven't had one since about 1995.
    MLAM's avatar
If you thought it was weak in 1995 then it’s even weaker now.

    A whopping 3.7% ABV.

    As Swiss Tony would say:

It was but now at £14.65, but you get £1.50 back in your cash pot on ASDA rewards.

How people can drink this is beyond me.

It sits very nicely between alcohol free lager and the stuff that gets you trollyed.
