Just be aware there may be zero actual warranty with ASUs if you don’t have an original purchase receipt. There’s no ebay warranty

It would be worth considering with a 240Hz 500 nits 100% DCI-P3 display. Here is this basic 165Hz + in theory the manufacturer states 250 nits, but in practice it goes up to 290-300 nits, +100% sRGB. Of course, it is not a bad display and there are plenty worse, but at this budget you can already expect something better. The biggest advantage of this model is the processor.

99.9% of people cannot tell the difference between 165 Hz and 240 Hz.

Cold. Too expensive for this laptop and the specifications. (edited)

Do you have a link to a laptop with better spec for this price?

I just want to point out that this laptop 4070 is not the same as a normal 4070 in PC. Only the name 4070 is the same, all other specs are different. The PC 4070 is about 50% faster than laptop 4070. Do not just be fooled by the name 4070 and laptop 4070 is not worth much more than 4060.

    This is a laptop 8GB 140W RTX 4070. A desktop RTX 4070 is 16GB.

When compare desktop GPU, 16GB RTX 4070 has a big advantage over 8GB RTX 4060. desktop 4070 worth a lot more than desktop 4060.

Whereas compare laptop GPU, 8GB 140W RTX 4070 does not give much improvement over 8GB 140W RTX 4060. Laptop 4070 does not worth much more than 4060. So do not over pay few hundred pounds just because it has a 4070.

In China, when the maker gives the options of 4070 and 4060 for the same laptop, the price difference is only about £50.

So in my opinion, only the CPU in this laptop is really powerful. But this laptop really does not worth this much of money. You would be much better just go with a 140W RTX 4060 and saving more than £500.

In gaming laptop, you either go for 4060 for less money, or go for 4080 and 4090 for speed.
Only go for 4070 if the price is not much higher than 4060. (edited)

I’m in the market for a new laptop that is good for gaming and relatively ‘future proof’, at least for the next 3 to 4 years. Is this a good deal or does anyone have any other recommendations for the same sort of price? (edited)

This will play most games for next few years, not as future proofed as a 4080 / 4090. I would say If can be patient and save a few more quid I'd wait for a 4080 as that is a considerable step up from 4070.

Display does not appear to have gysnc or freesync. So FYI to anyone wanting smooth gaming on this, you will need to go into windows display settings and reduce the refresh to something manageable for the majority of games you play else you will get judder. For example 100hz which is plenty smooth enough for most content and should be achievable with most games at this display's native res using dlss or dropping the settings a touch.
