Getting community fibre 1GB for £18 month. Check if they are in your area.

Largest town in a local authority of 260,000+ people here. Zero option aside from BT-based rip-offs.
Next one across with 240,000+ people and a 70,000+ city is exactly the same.

Hurrah for privatisation bringing choice and low prices to all.... </sarc.>

    I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I wonder how long before a similar service is available to me?

Yeh... ”no price increase" until the min term ends and it rockets up to their standard (and very uncompetitive) £43 p/m. I expect at this point there's a retention dance, or of course you're free to leave but of course they know people don't want the hassle. Other provide may have in-contract increases instead (until ofcom grows some teeth) but either way they'll get you, Hey are no better. (edited)

Well, all you do is leave and then move to BT or someone, if you don't move because "it's too much hassle" they will just keep putting up their prices like every other company does.

These guys are rubbish I have had bb from them and speeds aren’t great, service is crap and forget about the frilly stuff like filters.

I had BT install 500 mbps full fibre which is now out of contract. Huge trench was required to install the fibre cabling to the back of my house and into the property. Hey doorstep sales tried selling me this with 6 months free.

However they said they would need to install their own cabling, can’t use the Openreach cabling so it would all need to be installed again from scratch. What a faff and complete waste of cabling and resource. I reclined the deal.

They also charge £9.50 pm for a phone line and £7 pm for WiFi extenders which is worth noting as it all adds up (for those who need these extras). (edited)

Are you sure they'll be doing any digging? I thought these new smaller companies like Hey were only doing super cheapo installs wiring just an optical fibre from their box on your nearest telegraph pole to your house. That's what they did for me. Took about 20 mins, no spades involved.
