The village butchers are doing half price fillet of beef, I bought the tomahawk steak last time they had an offer and it was delicious, not sure why some people were complaining it was quality cooked on the BBQ

Well it says "whole fillet" in the title and the website lists it as 1.9-2.2kg.

No idea why this is being marked down, as it does appear to be a genuine 50% off the company's normal price. A quick scan looking for alternatives from other online butchers didn't come up with anything cheaper, for British beef.

Now I should know the difference between fillet and sirloin etc - but I can never remember which is which. So cannot recall how expensive a fillet steak is.

I'm half tempted to get one of these and cook it as a steak - just to photograph and send to my US and Canadian friends, who regularly post pictures of their bbq and "half a cow" on their plates.. None of them have been 2kg.....

So the whole fillet is £25-29 a kilo based on the size range of 1.9-2.2KG. It's a whole fillet, not 1KG.

Local butcher sells these between £25 and £40 dependant on weight. £40 being the bigger 2.2kg
