Can remember not really liking the first episode when it first aired ...went back to it though and was hooked ...just rewatching them again with the last season to go . Pure class .
Still can't decide between this and the sopranos for best TV series ever though !

    Joint winners

The Wire is to television what GTA V is to computer games

You mean they resell it a million times over, have added a subscription service and have upped the price of the subscription service recently? Or do you mean it's probably not as good as the last game/program?

Amazing show. Smart, emotive, insightful and brutal. Some people may struggle with the pacing, but it's always rewarded.

Exemplary cast including Idris Elba (arguably his breakout role), Michael B. Jordan, Dominic West, Aidan Gillen, Jamie Hector, Wendell Pierce, and the late greats Lance Reddick and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Do consider if you want this DVD set though, the HD remaster was a labour of love and may be a better choice for watching on modern hardware. (edited)

The DVD is in the intended 4:3 aspect ratio, the show was shot on 16:9 I believe but cropped to 4:3 because that was the framing the cinematographers/creators wanted for the show. Blu-ray has remastered the show but not cropped to 4:3 so it's in 16:9 so while its a better image its not framed correctly.
