    This set comes without controllers, but with Bluetooth connectors, so requires a phone or tablet to control the car

    The app allows you to trim the power of the control and limit top speed like can on normal controllers, also a brake to slow cars down, have to adapt driving style with them from plug in one's but doesn't take long. (edited)

    No physical controller…unsure about that tbh. that was half the fun of Scalextric when I was younger…getting the right degree of pressure to make the cars go round the corners at speed without them flying off…then even faster on the straight again. (edited)

    You can still do that, plus the brake

    You can still use physical controllers as all use same port if your preferences

    The controllers always felt cheap to me, haven't changed (edited)

    Good price and I’m tempted just for the cars and track to expand my kids current Scalextric set. Not sure about the spark plug dongles though.

    That's why I bought, for cars and track, I have spark plugs already but only downloaded the normal app not the formula e one that has boost and car slow down features and the mini games but might try at some point.

    May seem a silly question but can you add the old school controllers afterward? Like all the track and cars are compatible?
