Oh, how sad you are looking for the lowest price for this to support your argument when there are various examples of it selling for £200+.

And the rrp for the 6x6 is £219

Yeah, whatever! Sorry to prove you wrong but the 8110 Unimog that retired years ago and was a better value set has still FAILED to reach RRP (£154.99), thus: Not only that... there's an eBay 10% final value fee and a 3.4% + 30p PayPal fee to be taken out of the £150.00 example above. If the buyer paid RRP, he's looking at a £20 loss. There's also the hassle of packing, finding a strong box and queueing up to post it. There you go... ANY Technic set bought at RRP will be a ……. LOSER !!!

This statement is almost certainly going to be proved wrong. It might not go up much but it's pretty safe to predict it will reach at least RRP at some point, only question is how long one has to wait.

Not a popular set which is why it's still very available at large discounts. Expect values to tank after retirement.

Currently £60 off, thats 43% off and the best price it's ever been, it has been at this price once or twice before.

Thanks for everyone, looks like I'm going going to the give it a miss this time - at least until the boy is older. Cheers

No problem. Yes plenty of sorting required. I just kept the contents of the bags in individual containers but with hindsight i wish i had further separated them. Half the build time was spent looking for pieces! It seems a bit random as i am currently building the Technics Porsche 911 and there are bags labeled 1-4 for that and makes life loads easier!

Ahh, OK thanks for the heads up :) My mistake, I assumed all the big sets were numbered as the ones I have are. Plenty of pre-build sorting then.

I use Chinese takeaway containers. This build from memory isn't in numbered stages. You need to open all the bags and sort the pieces out.

It depends how organised you are. I use various different sized plastic containers and small tins (which I think had boiled sweets in originally.) The clear trays with the film lid that are used for supermarket prep salads, chilled fish, meat etc. are great, just wash out and keep a few trays of different sizes. If you are super organised you can build on a table which is not much bigger than twice the size of the model will be when finished - I say twice the size because you need space for the instructions unless you use a folding side-table. If you like to spread all the bits out and search through them then you'll likely need more room and probably regularly end up with bits on the floor. You don't need to open all the bags at once, the instructions tell you which bags you need for the section. Couple of pics below from one of my builds on a small kitchen type table which just about seats 4 people. Table is more than big enough for this build, I even had room for the part built model and coffee ha! The grey tray is a 'shoe tray' from Ikea which was a couple of quid I think - really handy to put the part-built model on along with all the opened bits and move it somewhere else when the table is needed.

LEGO 42063 Technic BMW R 1200 GS Adventure - £36.50 @ Amazon

Lowest this ever popular kit has been for a while.

Just watched a few reviews, particularly the 911 at a 1/3 of the price. Looked good but spoilt by quality control or lack thereof. Thanks for mentioning them as hadn't come across them before.

I've seen the Lepin version of the "VW Camper Van" kit and it was indistinguishable from the Lego version - just sayin!

Lol, wonder what this is really like given they've just used Lego's images and badly Photoshopped their own logo over the BMW one.

This is HUKD. Often there is no logic to how hot or cold deals get. Ignore temperature, set up keywords to find what you're interested in :)

Yeah I take your point. I held back buying it and you've probably articulated why.

At a guess I'd say because it seems like a relatively expensive set to begin with. No power functions and pretty basic in terms of the technic features. It doesn't seem like it would take long to build for the money.

Why has this gone cold? Can't find anywhere selling it at this price

I'm loving all these Technic Lightning Deals but they're costing me a fortune!

I gave up trying to order it

...their customer service is rubbish to say the least, so can't be arsed to got through the whole "nine yards" process (annoyed) I will place it though in my basket and wait for another "proper" discount voucher, maybe lucky, if not it won't the end of the world (cheeky)

No box for discount. Did you talked on chat before you place the order, or did you paid full price and they gave you a refund ?

I had to phone after placing the order, 1st representative said they couldn't apply the code as item already discounted, I had to argue the toss. I said my friend had successfully ordered one using the code and had informed me abiut the offer and that was the only reason I had put myself through a credit check... They crumbled in the end.

I agree. I no longer buy LEGO to resell unless it's >67% off. Too many cooks have spoilt the broth. Also, the cryptocurrency bubble burst this month and 2018 will end much lower than 2017. As soon as the horde fid out about any opportunity, it's game over

Spot on. In truth Lego reselling days ended in 2014. Lego is also declining in popularity again. Many of us that grew up with Lego in the 1980s and came out of our "dark ages" within the last 5 years or so, have now had our Lego fix, and gotten it our of our system, so to speak. Whereas the kids these days only appear interested in their tablets/gaming/you-tube. Sad but true. Of course, someone will reply to this saying that they still make profits on selling Lego - and yes, of course you can if you buy at the right price - but the days of doubling your money have gone and as a serious investment there are much better alternatives out there. As you say, too many people with blinkers on.

Lego resale days are over the bubble has burst. Every fool and his sidekick are at it now happy to make a Quid a sale. The trick is to be in early on the next big thing which is already out there. Of all the items I sell Lego has become the worst profit provider but is a reliable feedback builder. Look around take the Lego blinkers off.

ive never seen a clearance section in my locals.. ;(

I really enjoyed the caterham build, not a lot too it but it’s well done

If couldn't get this Porsche past the house manager...but she just approved the the purchase of the Caterham, based on it being retired. Lego are sold out and JL down to last 8 in stock. I'm still grisly about missing the F40 (no retailer availability + high eBay prices is the only time I would consider a Lepin). I've heard the Caterham wasn't a great seller so unlikely to go up in value, but just want it to go with my others...I will keep the box and manual in perfect condition though to maximise its second hand value.

Straight over your head then.

Probably right, I don't have one. I buy stuff to build/play. No interest in these kind of investments.

Exactly, how else would you sell it. Either convince her that is or lie about the price.

Yeah this will probably come down a bit more. As well as a small amount of functionality it's also more of a USA centric model that probably doesn't have as much appeal here.

Not sure about this set. Doesn’t seem to do much. Will wait for sub £70

Cheapest so far, but it will get cheaper. There's little appeal as there's no power functions included.

Loads of Lego deals coming up at the mo. These two look fun. Link to the other set:-

There's some excellent engineering in this set. Far tougher than anything from my old sets. Lego is all about forging open minds. This one continues that job.

Love (and still play with) my older Technic sets. These new sets with non-classic shapes/panels don't excite me.
