About this deal

My dog requires a nurocare diet due to dementia. She is also on heart pills. The local vet robbed me of £40 for a 3kg bag of this food. The 12kg bag at Pets At Home is the cheapest I can find it for, much cheaper than local vet and ebay.

Vets also recommended Purina Nurocare. I'm aware these brands are owned by Colgate, Nestlé and Royal Canin is owned by Mars. My dog is almost 16 and been fed on one of the above brands most her life.

As dogs age, many may begin to display undesirable behaviours such as house soiling, disrupted sleep patterns, forgetfulness, and even a decrease in social interaction. These behaviour changes are often surprising and unnerving to their owners. But, helping your dog can be as easy as feeding the right nutrition early and consistently. Hill's Prescription Diet b/d Dry Dog Food is clinically proven nutrition to help fortify their brain against the effects of age-related decline and improve age-related behaviours in older dogs.

Important information: This is a veterinary dietetic food and should only be used based on the recommendation of a veterinary professional. A vet will be able to give you all of the information and advice you may need regarding your pet's condition.

Suitable for behavioural or cognitive changes in older dogs. Not Recommended for: Growing puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs.

It's stupid that it says prescription, but then you can buy it at pets at home or online.
Pets at home likely have some sort of License and will ask questions before selling it (lke they do when buying fish and fish tanks)
However I work for a major pet wholesaler and used to get asked for this stuff, but couldn't supply it as Hills wouldn't supply us as they state it's prescription.
Absolute balls, it's a little setup they have going with the Vets etc to rip customers off.

Hills make versions of this stuff that doesn't state prescription, but is practically identical and will be cheaper.
Also you can buy other brands that will do the same thing

Don't get ripped off by your vet people.

Also a little bit of advice. Don't automatically go to pets at home for your pet products.
They are basically the Halfords if the pet world.

I deal with pet shops every day.
Try your local pet shop and ask them for what you need.
9 times out of 10 they will be happy to do what they can to get what you need and at a better price.
Just tell them what Pets at home charges and most will do better to get your custom

Support your local pet shop. They need it (edited)
