So... there's been a lot of cruise deals recently. I have to say I haven't really paid much attention because, well, honestly, cruises have always just seemed a bit shit to me. I associate them with pensioners who don't have the energy for much else. Am I completely misjudging cruises in 2024?

I was guilty of the same and misjudged it. We did the Fjords cruise last year with P&O and it was definitely an active holiday. Upwards of 20,000 steps at each of our stops from the various excursions and a good couple of hours in the gym on the couple of sea days we had.

There definitely were some people that stayed on the ship all day but they were in the minority. We were off from 9am-5pm most days.

Anyone know if I am stupid thinking of doing this with a 2 year old?

No , they do have play club for little ones. Nothing spectacular though. If you want to do this cruise go for it. Plenty of push chairs on the Virtuosa last time we were on and families seemed to be having a good time. Some take the children to the buffet and feed them and then eat in the restaurant themselves with child in their push chair.

Great deal. Just remember Norway is very very expensive. Expect £10 a pint on shore. (edited)

Interesting how the price goes up as you get closer to departure.
We’re booked to go this a couple of months ago for £700 per person with the drinks package included

Do single travellers pay significantly more?

also what would you say is the best Fjord cruise, for adult with 2 children under 6 and under 1. Food, good children’s club, easy to get around important. Good variety of sports/things to do aboard. Don’t drink. Organised so not stressful. (edited)

Yes solo travellers pay the same price as 2 adults in a cabin !! They don’t even give a deduction for the fact you’ll eat half the food ! However I have occasionally seen deals on here and NCL have single cabins at a reduced price but they are tiny inside cabins and I only want a balcony x

NCL now have solo balcony rate on a limited no of cabins.
Late booking solo tend to be best.

Where does Norwegian sit compared to other cruise lines? I have sailed P&O, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Virgin, and I would probably rate those in that order from bottom to top.

Norweigian is good, I'd probably place it along Royal Carribbean
