Can someone help me learn what the differences are between the different Ryzen 7 variants? I can’t get my head around all the price difference. Many thanks in advance

The 5000 series Ryzen processors are last gen Zen 3-based parts, which work on the AM4 platform and motherboards. Though to be clear, they are still very good processors.

There are three normal Ryzen 7 models, the 5700X, the 5800, and the 5800X, all eight core parts. There is very little real world difference between them, with the higher models just having slightly higher clock speeds. The 5700X is easily the best value of the bunch.

And then there is the 5800X3D which is another eight core part, but it includes an L3 cache chiplet stacked on top, to bring it from 32MB of L3 to 96MB of L3, adding on average about 15% in performance in CPU-limited games(though gains can be much higher in certain titles, and also much lower in others).

Overall, the 5700X here is nearly unbeatable in performance per dollar, especially when factoring in the affordability of AM4 motherboards.
