We intend to use it to power a campaign fridge and electric blanket when camping. A friend has the same one and it easily runs through the night.

These are good in theory, but an absolute nightmare when they pack up - which they do. They're £499 new - but that's with a 5 year warranty. These have only 12 months, and that's because they're likely to be repaired returns which packed up.

Try sending one back under the warranty and you'll find that it's almost impossible because nobody will transport them and Anker won't provide a return label.

I used to think these were incredible - until it ceased to produce AC power very soon after purchase.

We use DHL to courier electronic devices with Lithium batteries, what's the problem you had (I've read others saying this and curious)

Nice! Also worth a look at the Jackery options, for those interested in this sort of thing.
Amazon currently have 35% off (and regularly do!) some of their products.
Sure, it's less spec than above but a good price nonetheless:-

Equivalent Anker one (256Wh, 200W) from Ebay seller is £129.

Assuming the new one costs £500 and you pick this instead: If there is just 27.2% probability this used unit (1Y warranty) packs in between just after year 1 and year 5, you're better off buying new (5Y warranty).

Honestly won't buy this without the full warranty. 1Y is okay - but paying a few hundred quid will feel like a badly sunk cost if/when it stops working 18-24month in.

By that stage, you might as well spent the extra £135 on the new from Anker with correct warranty - that offsets the risk appropriately. This item is a consumables battery item by nature in that the storage degrades (they don't necessarily get to the rated charge count, before something breaks, could be the BMS, the cell, the connectors stop charging, aka alot of unnecessary risks vs buying with full warranty).

Imo this is a worse concept than buying OLED TV used (without a longer warranty), or EV car (with shorter 1Y warranty for the battery). Similarly precarious product (say vs qled that has less burn in); at least with the TV it'll still work. If this packs in, good luck.

I mean sure this is probably only Anker managing /reselling the returned inventory that has passed their quick re-QA check following a return or similar repair process - but by only putting on 1Y warranty (vs 5Y on new), it's basically Anker spreading externalities/ spreading risks onto customers / once it packs in, it's a paperweight. A precarious purchase that'll land a headache down the road sooner than there needs to be.

Obviously for some, the cheaper price with 1Y wty makes more sense - than the peace of mind of extra warranty. But if it's 5, chances are you can hand me down it or find alternative use and use it for full 5Y. Also maybe in the future the 1KW capacity will keep getting cheaper due to EV battery overcapacity for some time to go.

Statista suggests 1kw in 2023 for cars cost approx £109. That's without a battery management system (bms), packaging, shipping, R&S, marketing, etc. So there is room for these to probably get to £200 - maybe 250 not too far from now.

I've been debating this too. I can get this refurb one for £340 but is it worth it? I don't need it till mid july.
I read on Amazon reviews for this anker 555 which said they usually pack up (or a usb port/ac port stops working). Where Anker then reply the don't have any more stock and only offered partial refunds due to fair use. So I'm assuming if you were to buy new for £500, and claim in 12 months later, you will receive an 80% partial refund of £400.

Not sure if it's worth the risk.
I did find a Bluetti AC180T 1433wh on indiegogo for £686 but shipping from US was another £226 on top as it's 26kg+. Not sure if I'll be able to find it cheaper with a US forwarder since it's lithium.

Got this last time it was on offer, very impressed with it, came as new in the original box etc. Picked up a 100w folding/portable solar panel from ecoworthy and they are working together fine.

Although the picture says 5 year warranty, I checked and it only comes with 1 being a refurbished unit. Im not too concerned given the price, just info for others.

I spoke to them and that's the standard eBay overlay for something marked as refurb so they'll honour a failure after one year.

This. Want it, just in case. Even though we have had 2 power cuts that have lasted all of a few minutes the past five years lol

Have the exact same one and I love it. Got me 3 power cuts at my house and I take it in my campervan does the job well.

I see they're doing a Best Offer on these. They also have loads of the things to shift - including the one I returned when it packed up!

Which does make you wonder why so many pack up!
    mudcat's avatar
Mostly agree... thought getting a new one would be worth it to avoid warranty issues for longer space of time and the refurbished numbers hopefully comparatively small compared compared to units sold.
They don't seem to have reduced the lowest power models from the 5 series much... may I ask what caused yours to pack up so can keep eye out for? Thanks

Says it's £379. Am I missing something or have they just put the price up?
    davidclack's avatar
I just looked at the revisions on their page and there was a price change at 2.14 today, so I would guess they have increased the price!

Coming down quite a bit now which is good, I was always going to get one for the Motorhone as a backup, but not at the £600-£700 prices they used to be !

That Jackery is good value also
  10. gajenpun's avatar
wondering how do you get that price??
  11. CampGareth's avatar
Good deal for the capacity but this is slow to recharge on AC so no good for UPS use cases.

Im wondering can I take one of these in my car. I wait for long periods of time in my car, that’s just my job. I have a gaming laptop with 270w brick but I think without charging it draws something around 150w. Can I use one of these and for 150w how long this battery will last?
    martinwbc's avatar
Yes you can, it can take anything pulling up to 1000w.
Something pulling 150w, would probably last about 12hrs

Felt I had to bite on the new one for £499 from Anker (same price on Amazon with voucher)... been wanting something similar to for a while now with the newer generation of LiFePO4 batteries, which I'm of understanding that will last a lot longer in terms of recharging cycles. For the extra money the new one will cost on warranty I hope should last at least through a whole 5 years.
Thanks OP either way for pointing out either way these were available on a great discount! : )

52622381-ZqfnA.jpgAs suspected. Absolutely brand new and just excess stock.
    Newbold's avatar
I wouldn't be too sure - mine looked just like that when it was returned as faulty. There will be a process to repair, renovate and make look just like new.
