As others have pointed out the curry’s model is superior it has the 8 core GPU, 4 ports (2x tb4/2x usb3) vs only 2x tb4 on Costco model, additionally curry’s model has support for Ethernet and also includes the Touch ID keyboard which the Costco model does not. Given they’re the same price the curry’s model is a no brainer! The original srp for this model was £1599 so it represents a 50% saving and the original srp for Costco model was £1399 (edited)

Apologies for laboring the point of the OP Andorphine, and obviously there are some things that should be considered as per the opinions noted above. Surely, it must be better than than his existing 2011 iMac? I get that it may not be future proofed and that some people may have an issue with its limitations but I will be surprised if it is not suitable for moderate office applications. I don't own an iMac so I will defer to others with more real life experience.

    yes

I get that it may not be future proofed and that some people may have an issue with its limitations

    yes

some people are just hung up on the whole 8gb thing for various reasons.  Mostly perception and What Other People Say(tm)
Im not 100% sure but this is possibly the cheapest most powerful mac £/performance ever sold if not then its pretty  close.  Its a great deal for normal people doing normal things.   Anybody who wants to do more with their computers can buy a bigger computer.  You can spec a £20,000 mac if you wish.  This is less than 800 for all in one plug and play appliance style computing.    as an upgrade from Any 2011 imac it will be phenomenal.  2011 is nearly 15 years ago man

£800 for a non upgradeable desktop with 8gb ram... Who buys these things!?
    jaffamuffin's avatar
When you buy a car do you only buy cars that you can upgrade the engine?

Do you go for 5 seats or always get the 7 seater model. ?

That is really good. I paid £1200 a couple of years ago, worth every penny.

What's good about the price? You paid £1200 a couple of years ago and the model was already a couple of years old. It makes sense it would £800 now, no?

I just need to find the 512gb one on offer and I can finally replace my 2013 iMac, which has served me really well despite having just 4gb of Ram….

I've SSDs, NVMEs and 2x 5TB portables I use with my M1 mini. I've only about 80GB of the 256GB Mac used in over 3 years. (edited)

Anyone seen any cheap purple ones anywhere? They all seem to be silver , blue or pink

My wife has it since 2021 and it’s really good for office work… and bit of video editing ….. not gaming definitely

I swapped PC for a Mac Mini and Xbox Series X for the odd bit of gaming. Nobody buys Macs for gaming, it's better for me having seperate machines, the mini is silent and great for Adobe Lightroom and uses little electricity. The silence is important and it is plugged into the lounge OLED.

I had years of PCs and I hate them, they remind me of work and I don't want the memories.

M1 is still fantastic but I would be looking for 16GB ram for the sake of longevity. Entirely depends on your use case though; this is still a great buy if your use case isn’t that demanding and you’re determined to buy a Mac. (edited)
