Ryzen 5625u 8gb ram and 256gb SSD for those wondering

A bit confused about doubling the memory. According to the questions on Amazon, the memory may be soldered in, can anyone confirm this?

8gb is soldered on and it has 1 empty slot on the board

Might be useful for some and Specs

Also if installing a new SSD you will need to install the mediatek drivers for WiFi to work.

Sold out at Amazon. It's 449 at a different seller

Thanks for the clarification. By adding another 8GB, would it invalidate the warranty?

Will be fine, most laptops are dead on arrival or just work anyway so power it up first and check it over before you power it down and add the extra memory.

Ordered thanks interest free on amazon £60 a month for 5 months so no brainer for me. Thanks very much.

Could you use amazon giftcards or topups if you use this way of payment?

I have just finished updating, including the BIOS.
First impressions are very favourable, seems well built, nice keyboard and a clear bright screen. Think you would be hard pushed to find a better laptop for £300.
Will fit the extra 8GB of RAM on Monday, so should make it even better!
    Definitely impressed!

My Lenovo Yoga 6 has started to play up, plus it's only a 13" screen. Thought this might be a fairly cost effective replacement, plus it has a 16" screen.

Nice find! Great value for the price and 16:10 screen

Thanks for this. My 12 year old Asus needed replacing and I don't like using my gaming PC for anything else other than gaming, so this fits the bill perfectly

Just upgraded the RAM to 16 GB, took around 15 minutes and was easy enough to do, a great upgrade for £18!

    Thanks OP.

I did notice this a day or so before it was posted here - i stumbled across it when looking through amazon warehouse similar items.

Looked a good deal - pleased i was still able to get one.

I will be upgrading the RAM.

    Screen looks fairly decent also.

ASUS do some chunky 90s laptops. Also enter button is like a back space button.
    C0mbat's avatar
Are you saying this looks like it's from the 90s? Lol. I can promise you it doesn't in person. I've owned several Dell XPS 13s, two HP X360s, and a Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro and while this isn't as sleek as any of them it's not a bad looking laptop. I currently have the OLED version and it looks the same as this. It's similar to Dell Latitude laptops. For £300 can you ask for more? (edited)

Would this be ok to do basic photo editing on Photoshop Elements? I do bird photography and do a few tweaks afterwards.
I would up the RAM to 16GB if it would make a difference?

Should be ok yes / if you do any rendering & video work it might be too much for the onboard gpu

Anything to look out for when doing this? Or was it pretty straightforward?
    Mine also arrived yesterday!!

The only disapointment I have with this laptop deal personally is no backlit keyboard .
I had a look around and it seems you need to spend near double this to get a backlit keyboard or you could buy a refurb .
Surprised this isnt a hotter deal ? (edited)

If that's the only issue, that's a glowing review!
