The Master Blender
Bushmills master blender, Alex Thomas, holds responsibility for nurturing Bushmills Irish Whiskey’s range of premium blends and Irish single malts. As Master Blender, she is the caretaker of Bushmills’ whiskeys from the selection and management of the casks, through to their evolution during maturation. Alex takes inspiration from the North Coast of Ireland and is passionate about creating a premium portfolio of whiskeys that everyone can enjoy. Alex uses the wisdom and experience she has inherited from those who have gone before, while forging her own path and helping lead the way to Irish whiskey's new era.

Bushmills Finest Bushmills selects only the finest casks to mature the range of single malt whiskey. The Master Blender uses a range of casks to achieve the unique Bushmills flavour profile, including ex-bourbon, sherry and port casks.

• An ex-bourbon cask, the colour will be light, sweet and vanilla-like to taste.

• An ex-sherry butt, the colour will be much darker, and have a richer, dried fruit, nutty flavour profile.

Have to encourage any whisky fans of bushmills to go for the 21yr old instead. Have owned most of the range and would recommend saving for the 21yr old. Tried over 80 whisky’s and would say it’s in my top 3 but would out the 16 in the middle somewhere. It’s defo down to personal taste but this dram is a bit harsh for the money I’d expect more smoothness and complexity

Thanks for the advice. One of my favourites is redbreast 21 but I'll put the bushmills on the list!

Last purchased on 26 Dec 2018 - I paid £56.94 - thank you Amazon for preventing another impulse whiskey purchase!

Not a fan of bushmills at all but isn't £70 the sort of going rate for something like this?

Why bottle a 16 year old at 40% ? Ruins the drink by watering it down.

Good price & voting hot but not for me.
