Edit 2.30pm, 14th March: Added German reviews and found a few rebadge models - see here - and here
** This review will probably give some purchasers second thoughts, though (this Amazon Germany reviewer questions whether this is actually 1400rpm and casts doubt on the rated 8kg) **

Sister is looking for a washing machine so I've been on the look out! Can't see anywhere else selling these, and acquiring parts may be a concern. Are these machines Amazon-only? Don't know!

I asked CoPilot (Microsoft's AI system) for information about CHiQ washers (number 2 in the list I've edited out, as it was referring to a Top Loader, not a Front Loader - seems to be sourced from Australian reviews - so how relevant it is to us in the UK, not sure! Models and warranty care may differ country to country):
52384758-TCjj5.jpgJust for fun, here's a side-by-side of the electriQ 8kg / 1400rpm Washing Machine EQMWM8KGFL (image sourced from the ElectriQ website - also advertised as "Slim Depth")

Assume CHiQ are the OEM for these rebadges (brings to mind the Currys-only Kenwood machines, too - though the Kenwood machine I found isn't quite as alike) - thanks, mur76:
52384758-lJMvy.jpgThere's also the Hisense WFQA8014EVJM 8kg / 1400rpm which is similar, but not a carbon copy, less buttons, thicker door bezel and not 'Slim':52384758-WlQSq.jpgFound an official CHiQ webpage for this model - I think - model numbers differ slightly? (Phillippines) CWF80BPW (chiq.com)

    Washerhelp's sticky on their forums ! Unfortunately CHiQ doesn't have any mentions on there52384758-OixvX.jpgNo mention of CHiQ on ukwhitegoods forums (yet): ukwhitegoods.co.uk/for…q"}

Our friends on Amazon Germany have some reviews (I think, this is a similar model number - Amazon Germany's model is CFL80-14586IM3XBW - UK is CFL80-14586IM3XBWU), here

    TL;DR:

The "slim" refers to it's depth rather than width. It's a standard width, not "slimline"

I’m not in the market for a washing machine but this seems very cheap so heat added!
  7. Dyslexic_Dog's avatar
That looks very much like a re-badged Hisense?
Could be worth trying to compare stats and dimensions, may give you some sort of idea.
  8. cybersheep's avatar
That large black rim on the door instantly reminds me of the toilet seat track in Micro Machine 2.
  9. Cheeky_Chap's avatar
    Ridiculously cheap!

On a separate note, does anyone know where I can buy a Miele sticker?
  10. aviva's avatar
This is what we call a landfill purchase.

Great price especially with 2 year warranty... Tempted to buy one as a spare. If I can think of where to store it

I'll try searching forums later to get a definitive answer about about servicing and parts. My comment was an assumption.
( edit: see here for reviews, couldn't find much forum chatter about CHiQ washing machines )

And, knowing how HUKD can be, pre-empting them!

Have a dig around and find out who makes these, almost certain its made by one of the big boys and prob in Italy, my Candy has a Hoover Italy origin sticker and so did my old Zanussi machine so spares may not be as hard to come by as you may think...

HEAT for the silly price though, delivered too - wowsers!
    Kankan101's avatar
Nah dude it's Chinese, low quality way worse than an Italian made tbh.

Candy brought Hoover like 20 years ago and Candy are owned by Haier now.

Zanussi wouldn't have been they have always been separate until Electrolux brought them about 30 years ago.

Looks like a rebadge Hisense. Inverter motor as well, seems rude not to at this price!
    monkeytrousersbb's avatar
What does inverted motor mean in real world use/results?
  19. ChelmsfordCharlie's avatar
What a deal. 12 year guarantee on the motor. Their 10kg one is £366 but has been down to £317 so I might hold out for that.
  20. Deal_searcher's avatar
Heat added. Great price for a washing machine and with an inverter motor too. It makes me feel like I paid way too much for mine!

My old Hotpoint is on its last legs and was looking to replace it with something like hisense or eco bubble type machine. Typically I only wash once a week or less as live alone. Tempted with this but can't say I've ever heard of this brand and lack of reviews. Any additional info would be appreciated. Incidentally I bought a hisense fridge/freeze before Xmas and it's been fantastic and seems well built! Cheers for any extra info.....
    dn852k4's avatar
Just don't replace the old hotpoint with a new one. The newer ones are utter junk. Recently purchased one and it was chewing up by clothes and staining white bedding. Very and hotpoint originally agreed to collect and refund but then changed their mind and sent an engineer who claimed there's nothing wrong with the drum and soap powder was the cause of the black grease /oil marks!

Funny how the Samsung I replaced it with hasn't damaged any clothing nor does the same soap powder leave black marks.

Currently going through section 75 with my credit card for a refund from these crooks.

    **AVOUID HOTPOINT AND VERY**

Less depth = less amount of washing no matter what the weight rating is. Hoover pull the exact same trick. Sure, it can handle 8kg... Of bricks, but try stuffing 8KG of clothes in there.1

Wasn't something I was aware of (not seen / used any 'slim' machines). One German review says this so you may have a point! 52385193-i1b7a.jpg

Looks identical to our Hisense - great very quiet machine so bargain at this price point.a
  25. Kankan101's avatar
Will be made in China, not going to be a re-badge of anybody's. This will be an absolute nasty inside full of generic components and the lowest quality at best, god help whoever they took on as service provider.

I will dread the day when I come to repair one of these.

Unless you absolutely need one this cheap then I would avoid.

It is, mentioned the Wikipedia link in the comments not long after posting circa 1am, and I added another ten minutes ago with a quote from the page. However, Chinese companies like Haier (who I considered for a washer dryer when my kitchen was being redone - and I was about to spend about £700!) and Midea are (afaik) acquiring a decent reputation, so it's not all bad.

Ended up buying a Hisense (!) and that's only because my mum and sister have a few of their kitchen appliances and it was a steal on Amazon.

Can't speak for CHiQ, not seeing much chatter about them thus far.

    It's 8kg? Before the 2000s, most washing machines were 4.5 / 5kg, 6kg at a push.

( edit: Though - this German reviewer seems to cast doubt on the rated capacity ) (edited)

My sister cancelled yesterday (I ordered on her behalf) and had me looking all day long yesterday to see if it reappeared! (Why she did this, I don't know).

    £289 today.
