Marseille is probably the place I’ve felt least safe in. I’ve travelled many places in Europe and across the world and personally couldn’t wait to leave. Do your research before going.

I agree that this place is not great. Absolutely nothing to do and not safe. Don't go there because of cheap flights unless it's a business trip or this is your embarkation port.

Agree…very little to do in reality. Not even a pleasant city to walk around and enjoy. I ended up back in the hotel after dark as it simply did not feel safe for tourists

Absolutely hated the place when I went. Didn't feel safe even during the day. I've been many places around the world it's probably the place I couldn't wait to leave the most. Not much to do either.
Aix-en-provence isn't too far so these flights might be OK to just go straight there. Much nicer place or was when I went 10 years ago

We went in 2016 and I thought it was a lovely short break with lots of little touristy things to do. Stayed and ate around the old port, went to the Muscem and the Basilique. Didn’t feel unsafe at all. Has it changed a lot in the last 10 years or did we just get lucky?
