In 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie landed on the West Coast of Scotland. Driven by fiery ambition, he was intent on reclaiming the throne of his ancestors, rallying many to his cause. By way of thanks he gifted them the only possession he had left, the recipe to his personal elixir. They called it Drambuie.
Introducing Drambuie, the award-winning whisky liqueur made with a delicious blend of Scotch whisky, rare heather honey, aromatic herbs and spices.
Drambuie can be savoured on its own over ice or used in various delicious cocktail and food recipes. The unique flavours from the recipe of herbs and spices are made more indulgent by Drambuie’s silky texture and Scottish heather honey. For the perfect after-dinner sweet treat, we recommend mixing decadent Drambuie iced coffee cocktails, which are the perfect drink to host friends and family, giving them a reason to stay a little longer.

sorted byMy logic is that they did it to put themselves on a more level playing field with the likes of Glayva and Stroma whose offerings come in 50cl bottles and sit side by side on supermarket shelves with Drambuie. When a consumer looks at a shelf with Drambuie (70cl), Glayva (50cl) and Stroma (50cl), the Drambuie would look expensive if you don't pay attention to the bottle size. So cheapskates buying gifts would opt for 2nd best with the likes of Glayva. By reducing the bottle size to 50cl, the pricing on the shelf is now typically much the same. Well that's my logic and it makes more sense than William Grants answer. (edited)
