Did this Thursday of this week. Boats left on time, check in and security easy. Boats clean enough and reasonably comfortable. The 2hours 10 each way to Dunkirk and back in a day is a bit heavy going after a long day but would probably do it again. Only issue was most toilets on board had only 1 working cubicle (edited)

Anyone know if I'd have trouble boarding if I book a 1 way out and then a return a week later to come back, missing the outbound on the return? Works out at about £60 which is a lot better than any alternative even missing a leg

I imagine they end up charging you full price if not completing return journey. Exactly what I was thinking though.

Also remember you can get VAT refunds these days, FR isn't a straight 20% though, and the threshold claim is 100 euro, some detail here

What's the situation nowadays, for taking a car. Extra insurance, headlight things and triangles?

I think France also want you to have a hi-viz vest and alcohol breathalyser in the car. Best Google it (edited)
