All of these bed in a box mattresses will result in sinkage very quickly. For a double you will notice a ridge down the middle. Back ache is just around the corner.

Don’t get me wrong these mattresses have great reviews for one simple reason. People review within the first week or two. Issues don’t arise until a few months down the line.

Google Guardian Simba for a newspaper article on this.

For reference I have had a Simba and an Emma mattress. Both shocking after a few months. Make the most of the returns policy.

Thinking about the amazing ‘guarantee’ on these type mattresses? They basically assume sinkage within their terms and conditions as they know it’s an issue. See the Simba and Emma T&Cs below.

I agree, I wish that I hadn't bought one! It has collapsed on both sides . We put pillows under the mattress to prop it up, it helped a bit.

Had one for a couple of years. They are so damn comfy! I like firm beds, they sent me a topper to make it feel firmer which worked. They do the same if you like it softer, no idea how good that is though.

One large negative for me though, they don't breathe very well in the summer. My gf doesn't notice it, but I like to be cold when I sleep and I don't struggle with it a bit in summer.

Yeah, we have a simba currently and I find it the same. Not a deal breaker, but something to bare in mind. I think it's a common problem with all mattresses that have memory foam in them.

All these companies selling over-hyped mattresses keep going bankrupt, what do you know selling a mattress for over £1200 is a really good business model when there are 30+ companies doing exactly the same thing and they still can't compete with IKEA. I remember years ago laughing at Tempur mattresses being £1500, it's obvious people took note and though there was more of a market for this junk.
    Joeymx's avatar
What businesses have gone bankrupt? And how does this number (if any?) relate to the overall size of the market?

Sorry but there are countless positive reviews for bed in a box mattress companies. Walk into a national chain and the pricing is the same if not significantly more.

IKEA do it first so we should leave them to it? Alright...

If you decide to return it within 200 days do you get a proper refund or is it just a voucher?
    marylamb88's avatar
    Proper refund
  6. Flombard's avatar
    Do these mattresses have handles?
    marylamb88's avatar
    Yep on each side.

People need to understand that this mattress is not a soft Emma original that will sag, this one has pocket springs inside that makes this mattress very firm. Even with comfort layer it's a very mattress. For 270 it's a good deal. I paid 519 and will send it back and buy this one instead as still on a 50 night trial
  8. Arcana's avatar
I ordered a king size one.
Hopefully it lives up to my expectations - I looked at quite a lot of reviews and they are generally very positive.
  9. Hudders's avatar
Before you order I’d recommend you read their Trustpilot reviews. I ordered a King Size matress a few months ago on a 5-7 day delivery and eventually got it over a month after. Great mattress but delivery times and customer service are awful.

Currently have am Otty hybrid and want to go firmer does anyone know how this would compare in firmness?
    marco806's avatar
Which, says this mattress is firmer than the Otty....Ive an Otty, but ive just bought this one.

My Otty has been excellent, but this one, from reports, looks a bit better, so, at the price, £261.02, decided to buy

I ordered the Emma Premium Kingsize mattress and it has just been delivered 4 days later.
Interestingly I think it's the wrong mattress as it says Emma Original UK mattreess on the sticker.
    Part number: EMAUO150200AAA
the date on the label is 12/12/2022.
Does anyone know if this is the right mattress or have I been sent the wrong one as I ordered the Premium one in this post for £308?
    Arcana's avatar
Looks like you got the wrong one.
Googling that part number only brings up the original unfortunately.
  12. kand449170's avatar
LOL, had one of these for 9 mths, started off ok but soon lost its structure and support, ended up with lovely dip in the middle and a super soft and saggy bed. Mattress warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. I ended up cutting it up for the foam, use it for the dogs beds and they love it
    koolpubba's avatar
I hope you didn't bought it for £1200...

    275 bones for a mattress.

Thanks, ordered 2 x doubles with extra 5% off =£ 522.03, cheaper the the original mattress on previous offers! Just noticed on Trustpilot poor reviews relating to slow delivery times, apparently related to UPS issues.
  22. jagielak's avatar
Bought one a month ago for 519£ sending it back and ordered this one with the code fatherday5 260£ paid thank you. It's a very firm bed so if you like softthat ain't it

Received my mattress protector today. Had to go through online customer enquiries and send them the email showing both mattress and protector for the money.

Do you mean submit tickets via their webpage? ( Please see the image below) I sent an email to support@emma-sleep.co.uk  but no luck.

What are people's opinions on these? I've had a £100 IKEA one for several years and it is really good (no sagging, comfortable) but it was only originally going to be temporary. Would this be a significant upgrade?
    Little_Casper's avatar
Considering over 1/4 of Europe was conceived on an Ikea mattress, I'm sure there's not that much of a benefit if you already have something that works great and you like; seems like a waste of money in my eyes.

I forgot to add Emma gives a 200-day guarantee, so if you did buy it and found your old bone was better you can always return it, I wouldn't want to buy one and find it's worse than my old mattress. (edited)

Ordered. Many thanks Op. I wonder if these are regular "sales"?
    paul.raynes's avatar

I can't say I've ever noticed one on here. They all used to sell "seconds" on eBay where some people got new mattresses, so maybe they've just figured this is a better way of selling them?
  26. JJDawson's avatar
We've had one of their basic models for a while, best sleep I've ever had but didn't do it for my wife, so we're going to return it.
    djbooth77's avatar
Blame the mattress, then return your wife...? I see what you did there...
  27. illy1965's avatar
Thanks for the deal, already got the original Emma and its started to sag a bit so it's time for a new one, had it for a good few years now so I can't complain
    Dy_86's avatar
    Did you return it?
  28. DealDarren's avatar
Beds are so unique to the individual. People here saying they're too soft - I thought they were far too firm! I had previously ordered a single and thought it was just right, but 7 years later ordered a King and they had definitely changed the firmness.
  29. Sultan_Gazi's avatar
Any recommendation for a mattress with the size being 160x200?

I had a HYLLESTAD mattress from Ikea which was the best I had but it’s now discontinued with not a huge choice available for this size.
  30. y_geordie's avatar
    Bought. Fingers crossed delivers
  31. CAL23's avatar
Nah, no way was that ever £1,099. Who pays that much for a mattress?!!
  32. Mooney70's avatar
We are all different when it comes to what mattress suits us best. I tried a simba hybrid deluxe but it was no better imo than the old mattress that i took to the tip. This one does sound ok as it has pocket springs and memory foam. I like a pretty firm mattress myself. Big fan of those they use in premier inn.
  33. Technoman2's avatar
So we were going to buy a Hypnos mattress that are (were) used in Premier Inns and you could buy a king size from Premier Inn for around £900. They are now using Silentnight beds made to their spec but if you want a Hypnos king size now you will pay around £2000 and even more for Dunlopillo. I think i would have nightmares if i paid those prices for a mattress. (edited)
  34. marco806's avatar
So, you get a mattress protector too with the order...?50495088-aq7w2.jpg

🔥 just bagged the king size for £308! (edited)
  37. Barisba's avatar
We are about to buy a home so probably we need this bed for around September(solicitor said it can take 8 to 12 weeks at least)

Can I just buy this now and return it around September(not sure 200 days return policy applicable for unused items) if I don’t use the bed?

I’m considering worst case scenario here If we could not get our mortgage accepted.

Just open the bed up then and pretend it's been used.....
