I bought the Venga vacuum from the warehouse (has LIDAR), and it's been awesome(especially for the price!), and am looking for one for the family.

How do these 'dumb' smart vacuums compare against those with LIDAR?

I can't tell you how they compare because I've never used LIDAR, however, I've had this exact model for a few years now and it's still going strong. Fills the dust tray in 2 goes upstairs. Obviously with it being "dumb" it's going to take a largely random path, but it does seem to get everywhere with a full cycle and always seems to find it's way back to charge.

If I were to get another, I'd go for one with some type of mapping / smart navigation / LIDAR, because it would be handy to set boundaries via an app. Otherwise you have to put boxes in the way or close doors to block off areas / hide cables etc. But it does the job and it's not often you'll get a decent "smart" one for this price.

I love our two of these, one on each floor.

We have carpets upstairs but hard floor downstairs. It works well on both. Dust tray always fills well. Considering upgrading downstairs one to the mop version. We’ve had them for nearly 4 years now (checked Amazon purchase date) so all good. (edited)

Although this is cheap spend the little bit more for the 2000 pa suction otherwise they are bit week had my 30c pair now nearly 4 years 😁

It’s a good vacuum as we had one. But it’s dumb so goes over the same spot many times. It does seem to cover most of the area but the cycle takes a very long time. Also the schedule is very basic and it has to go on at the same time every day.

Aside from the above it’s good, suction is good and it picked up really well. It’s very slim so gets under coffee tables etc. But we now have a smart one that maps the rooms out, and can set a more fine grained schedule, whilst telling it only to hover in certain rooms.
