These are great cameras, but if you are putting it in an area with a lot of movement (street, garden with tall plants etc) then for your sanity, get the next model up with human detection... Or it'll be constantly alerting !
You can either subscribe to the cloud service , or as I do... Add an SD card.
This records ALL movement, plus send alerts for movement in your preset guard area.
The card overwrites old footage.. but mine lasts months before it's full (64gb) You can (and should) format it every few months - which is done from the app.
Only time you need a ladder is to reset the camera, and then the app ask you for the qr code on the bloody camera - so save a copy (again, the app can do this) once it's set up.
    App supports multiple cams too.

This I think will need a power supply to your chosen location of the device as it does not appear to have a long life battery?

It comes with a power supply. It is not battery powered.

We get tiny fox cubs at the bottom of the garden (15-20m away), would this or the next model up for a few pence more capture these or will these be a blurry mess?

Neither would do it in my opinion. You'd want a camera with optical zoom.

Just bought this and can't see anything on the camera when it's dark. Can hardly see the street lights

Are the infrared lights working? Is it too close to a wall?
