    Interesting, but probably a bit pointless. 5m cables are £9. If you're going to join two shorter cables you'd have spent £4.47 on this and whatever it was on the two shorter cables.

    I wouldn't go over 5m total for HDMI 2.1 (unless using active cables) if you need 4K 120 to work reliably. Adding a coupler is only going to worsen the signal. (edited)

    Oof, I hadn't seen that. Sticking 8K HDMI 2.1 on that is a bit of a joke. And this is the problem with HDMI standards. It's a feature set, and there's no such thing as a 2.1 cable, or a 2.0 cable or a 1.4 cable. There are just cables of different speeds.

    10.2 Gbps is only enough to support the HDMI 1.4 feature set in its entirety. It will support /some/ HDMI 2.0 and 2.1 features, but not all. 8K isn't happening in anything other than 24Hz at 4:2:0 *if* the devices support DSC, and that's going to be highly suspect. 4K60 at 4:2:0 is possible, but really I'd just get longer, faster cables.

    For the Firestick use case mentioned above, maybe. Still, I'd just get a HDMI extension cable rather than introduce an extra interface.
