Buy this instead of one those Dyson fans. Cheaper & will cool your room much better. Good bargain this!

Oh I have one, but I haven't used it yet this year and have only just finished my window fitment. I tend to over engineer everything and am currently working on a method to lag the hose as best I can. My design is 6mm MDF, 3mm acrylic 15mm blocks with insert nuts, m6 bolts, rubber washers, mylar sheet outer with a letterbox flap and an insulation layer of bubble wrap to reduce conduction to the MDF. The MDF is primed on the outside faces. It is fit from outside and then locks onto the inside frame, so reasonably secure and airtight against the rubbers of the window frame.

Does this come with a window kit for windows that open outwards? If not, which is the best window kit to buy as all the ones I've looked at have rubbish reviews

I'm in the same boat. Only have a top outward opening window in the room that needs cooling. I'm using some insulation material at the moment to seal off the gaps but the plan is to buy a 4-5mm thickness piece of acrylic and dremel an opening for the plastic hose piece. I'll use strong velcro to attach the acrylic so it'll be easy to remove when air con isn't needed. Aluminium tape will seal off the gap the velcro creates between the window frame and the acrylic. I wish they could make a proper ac cooler like this, but without the window vent. How does a cars ac work? Can they not make it similar or no big air tubes at the back.

I don't have a clue how it all works, but I'm sure it's plausible

A car has a condenser which acts like a radiator, it's then cooled with a fan or passively with airflow as you drive....doesn't need a hose as such as it's effectively outside already under your bonnet. It is however doing the exact same thing.

The closest solution for your home would be a fixed AC install through your wall

I just don't get how these things work. I understand the physics don't get me wrong but they suck in air from the room to cool it so you get cool air but to enable this process it needs air blowing over the condenser which can only come from the same room its just cooled so its using the cool air its just made to cool some more air, it then needs to get rid of the now hot air that has just gone through the condenser so it blows it out of the window.
The air that has gone out of the window needs to be replaced so your room doesn't become a vacuum and this air can only come from outside the room, under the door, through an air vent etc so hot air from outside the room is now flowing into the room making it warm. Coupled to that the hose going out the window is hot which is also contributing to heating the room up.

With a split system the two halves are completely separate, the cool air stays in the room and it uses outside air to cool the condenser. these all in one units must be so inefficient not to mention noisy.

Yep very noisy and inefficient compared to proper setup but they are cheap and only really used a handful of times each year.

You can buy portable ac with separate intake / exhaust pipes in other countries but hard to find in the UK.

I got the 9000 BTU and was very happy with it during the heatwave!

Bought the 9000 BTU model from Aosom a few months ago and happy so far. Delivery was quick (ordered Sunday, delivered Monday) and device works well. Yes, it's noisy but they all are. For cooling down an average size bedroom, good enough.

Yes, I would prefer a proper split unit, but not possible in a flat. (edited)

If it's the same as the rose gold homcom one, it wasn't life changing. I expected more cooling from it than is giving out, also, it's very loud.

I sleep with gel ear things anyway, because my neighbour is a C you next Tuesday, but be prepared.

Also, a longer, more maleable hose is probably going to be a necessity. The hose is strong, so, difficult to manoeuvre, and short (for me)

I am not sure it is a deal. CPC has this price for their 10000 unit for a while I think.

I have checked out a few of these type of portable aircons and definitely some are better than others. I wonder how this one stacks up as it seems cheap

If you've an ensuite with extractor fan, wonder could you just fix /tape the exhaust hose to that to get the hot air out, to save messing about with window kits? Mine has stopped working mind you but might still be good to push hot air out...

For those not having the window kit, honestly speaking it’s not a big fuss. I bought a longer hose from EBay and dropped it halfway from the window so the hot air doesn’t come back in. I also let the curtain down so it doesn’t let much air back in.

Amazing price I paid the same a few months ago for just the 7000 BTU.

It’s great we’ve been using it the last couple weeks and it really helps to cool the room just make sure you check what size room the 10,000 BTU is designed for.

The only downside is venting. The vent is designed for sliding windows but they’re not common in the uk so you’ll be best off buying a window seal on Amazon like this for it:

AC Window Seal,Portable Universal Window Kit for Mobile Air Conditioner Unit and Tumble Dryer 400cm/158Inch,Hot Air Stop Air Exchange Guards with Zip and Adhesive Fastener amzn.eu/d/i…O8p

Took delivery of this today and I didn’t expect it to be super quiet but my god it’s insanely loud even on the low setting!
Impossible to hear anything over the unit.

If you are living in a flat, order anything from Aosom with care. Their delivery won't deliver to your door but only leave it on the ground floor, and they told me it's your own problem to carry whatever you ordered to your own flat. The quality of service has never been lower in this country.

Also it's written in the last sentence in their delivery T&Cs so you can't even say a thing to them, they will tell you if you buy from them it's your own problem to carry the parcel, doesn't matter how heavy it is.
