I posted this last time round for a little less, but this is a good price still.

There is only 1 in stock. I returned 2 of these just this week. I am almost certain that this single unit that appeared in stock is the one I returned as they said they were not getting more in…

Whoever buys this, if you DM me the serial number, I will confirm what was wrong with it if it was indeed one I had returned.

This company treats customers with contempt and I would be wary dealing with them. Double check everything you receive closely as you might miss minor things - eg one I returned had a snapped pin in the Ethernet port so it didn’t work, most people will use wireless and would never spot that fault.

Hi, thanks for your initial post. I purchased one at that time. Today I found it again and there was five left, so purchased one for my mother in law.

I've bought 3 refurbished EliteBooks and ProBooks over the last 5 years (one for myself, two for others). Two of them developed over-heating issues after about a year and started shutting down in the middle of work. The 3rd just died and wouldn't start again. I don't have access to that one so didn't do any troubleshooting. As a result, I will never buy a refurb EliteBook or ProBook again, and would advise that nobody else does either. That's just my own personal experience, I'm sure there are those who've had them for years without issue.

We have loads of EliteBooks in the business (as well as many current models) and they are some of the best engineered and quality laptops out there with easy access to the internals. They don't just overheat for nothing, it will be something mechanical like dust build-up trapping the exhaust (that layer of compacted lint) or dried out thermal paste. Even so, thermals just cause a bit of throttling that worsens over time. I don't know how you can conclude that nobody else should buy them again...

I've recently (6 & 8 weeks ago) purchased 2 Laptops from the same eBay seller, 1 for me, the other a couple of weeks later on behalf of a friend.

    £150 + £7.99p+p for a
    HP 450 G3 i5-6200U 2.30GHz 16GB RAM 480GB SSD Windows 10 Pro Laptop and Charger
    And
    £135 + £7.99p+p for a
    Dell XPS L701X i5 M460 2.53GHz 8GB RAM 250GB SSD GT 435M GPU Windows 10 Laptop

Now I'm no expert, but for what its worth, we are both happy with our purchases (offers were accepted) from qwerty-laptops
Delivery (via Parcelforce) was speedy & the laptops well packed.

    It's good to have options.

I don't recognise the seller. The first one has a good spec if you don't need a quad-core so I can see why it appealed with the 16GB RAM (more than most laptops today) and a large SSD. The XPS L701X is very old (over a decade) but was a highly-regarded machine when it launched with things like an insanely good JBL sound system, metal lid and discrete graphics, especially as they kept it up to date with an SSD for you.

Prefer these to the likes of Dell and Lenovo.

The 2013/14 models built like tanks.

I hope you don’t get one of mine then! If you get a working machine though, this is a great price. Under normal circumstances, these are really good systems that look and feel premium.

I used an air blower on the vents several times but this was just a temporary fix. Couldn't be arsed to open the damn things up and sold my one (with full disclosure of the over-heating problem of course!). But that's my point. One in ten (at most) would be OK to open these up, take off the heatsink/fan assembly, clean off the old gunk, apply some new paste and then put it all back together again. Better solution - don't buy an EliteBook or ProBook.

Honestly I would say don't bother getting any refurb laptops then to be honest. Although I'd also suggest that if it's been refurbed I would generally expect a fan clean and fresh thermal paste to be part of the refurb process (I recently sold a few old 5th gen i5 elitebooks and did all that).

For anyone interested, the same seller has the Ryzen 5 version of this laptop, also a deal I posted before, in stock at a slightly higher price in limited quantities. I would suspect they are also customer returns, so buyer beware, but it might be useful for some. I don't trust them any more, personally, but I do like the model, so if you get a good one, this is a decent price - as I said in previous threads, the design of this laptop is very modern and premium (all metal body), it does not look like a sub £200 laptop.

Has anyone received theirs yet and had a chance to look the systems over?
