Not urgent but I will want a laptop soon and one of the requirements is for it to run software like fl studio. Any help would be appreciated

Great price for the spec but you need to upgrade the RAM. 8GB is not enough!

Seems like a decent option, the only quibble really (if it's a valid quibble at £270 for a R5 2023 laptop) is that the display isn't IPS, but a TN panel rather.

The CPU is also pretty bad - another victim of AMD’s bad naming, called a Ryzen 5 but only quad-core and iGPU is 2 CU (610M) so overall probably slower than the 3 year old Ryzen 3 4300U. V

For this system, RAM is soldered so 8GB is all you can have, display is TN (kind of expected) and CPU is dreadful by 2023 standards - it has no business being called a Ryzen 5, it’s about on par with the Ryzen 3 4300U but with slower graphics.

For anyone interested in this sort of thing:
HP install analytics software (spyware in my opinion) on their systems even if you do a clean install. It comes via windows update and is almost impossible to prevent it being installed. Its also stupidly hard (maybe impossible) to remove as it installed on the 'System' level and cannot be deleted.
HP say it's not spyware, of course they would.

how does this compare against the HP Pavilion 15 deal that was available for similar price last week? I got that but perhaps this might be better?
That system is much better, faster and more expandable - not to mention cheaper.

Can the ram be upgraded to 16gb?
medicgaming123
There's a very strong chance the answer is no. Not that i'm liking it at all, but i've been seeing quite an obvious trend with windows laptops as a whole no giving the user access to the memory slots anymore. I once had a HP Envy 15 x360 with the i5-1335u, and 8GB DDR5, and it was soldered, without any more slots.
