    Please forgive what is probably a really stupid question, but how can these be 'fast charge' cables if they have a USB Type A connector at one end? I thought there has to be some sort of 'negotiation' happen when a USB C device is first plugged in, to determine the device voltage and current capability?

    They support Qualcom quick charge 3 protocol. It's up to 36 watts. So the cable is 3.1 amp, it must send 12 v to the device to be charged. 3x12 36 watt. There are also Qualcomm 4 and 4+ protocols that support higher speeds. My honor charger comes with a 6 amp lead usb a to c, it outputs 66watt to phone. (edited)
