    Heat added.

But I’m on the fence if I should keep my current (11 Pro that is 3 years old) and wait until September for new iPhone

Or wait until the new iPhone is released and see what offers are out on the previous models (edited)

The problem with monthly contracts is that the companies can increase your monthly fee by 15% each year. (CPI/RPI plus 3%)

To reduce overall cost for the contract, pay more up front so that you get lower monthly charge.

£299 is a lot to pay upfront.

They also do £199 upfront and £25 monthly fee for 80gb data

Sure, but you're not taking the cost of the initial payment onto account: with inflation at 10%, your current £300 is actually more like £330 if amortised over two years. I'm not saying you don't have a point, it's just not as clear cut as that. (edited)

    It's a big scam...

I bought an iPhone 13 mini in 2021 on similar deal, with upfront cost of £300, I was paying about £20 per month for 24 month, so I thought.

The first RPI increase in April 2022 was not very painful and barely noticeable, but the second RPI increase in April 2023 of over 17% brought the monthly payment to over £31 a month now.

I complaint to O2 and argued the RPI should only be on the Airtime, not Device plan, O2 replied that there was not device plan on my tariff.

As I said, a big scam, I am now paying over £10 a month more than what I started with.

Will be leaving O2 when it ends and will never buy a phone with tariff.

where’s the scam? It’s clear in the t&c’s that you agreed to, and every company has the increase. Are you talking about Brexit lies that brought us the inflation? If so, I agree with you

Would anyone happen to know if these contracts come with the smart watch cellular data or do you have to pay extra? I’m having to pay about £17 a month on a sim only because it’s an extra £6 or something for the watch add on.

With the way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised if inflation doesn’t reach 11-15%
