I would say this is very cold, I wouldn't expect it to last long and the fact they don't have confidence to honour the 5 year warranty and instead only gives 6 months should be a sign to stay well away.

I've had this karcher model since 2017. Last couple of years it's only worked on low pressure. It needs replaced and I'm loathed to replace with Karcher again - given very light usage. Will the attachments work with another brand eg Nilfisk, and are they more reliable?

Good spot OP, although this has 6 months warranty. You can extend this for another 6 months at 10.99.

Halfords have this for 188.89 if you apply the 10% discount code. This also comes with 2 years warranty which is a real benefit.

If the Halfords one is new, is this not now a 5 year warranty (with an extra year if you buy new direct from Karcher)?

Yes if you register with Karcher within 28days.

Ive had a K5 since 2018 and its been in for warranty 4 times now. The motor itself is fine (water cooled) but the full control sensor broke leaving it on low pressure, some other sensor broke meaning it didn't detect water flow (had this twice) and now its showing similar symptoms with a lot of faffing to get motor to engage.

Warranty service itself has been brilliant. I'll email them again if the symptoms continue and see if i can get a FoC repair as the same issue keeps happening.

Well i was thinking for k4 but for me 1y warranty is not enough.

Has Karcher become the new Dyson? Twice as expensive as anything else, only 10-20% better in performance, as unreliable as cheap stuff, as heavy as a tank, but must have it to show off to the Joneses because its expensive and shinier...

    No.
Love my dyson. Had my V11 since 2020 and its still performing like day one. Probably because I empty it and clean the filters. Battery lasts fine and enough to vac 200m2 of house.

I also have an upright I have had since 2007 and its for DIY jobs now and it still works as it did 17yrs ago.

People like to hate on Dyson and Karcher but it's largely unfounded and due to improper care and maintenance a lot of the time.

Be careful with these. Priming the water pressure before use and empty/releasing pressure from them is absolutely essential and vital to prevent any leaks or issues with the pump from forming. Have to look after these, these days otherwise it’ll break on you. Nilfisk and co have metal pumps which are meant to be better built but seen same things happen with them.

Bottom line don’t abuse pressure washers at the high level.

This looks good but is below the 140 bar and water flow rate I’d like.
