I'm building a modest PC and wondering about going for an SSD if the motherboard has no heat sync should I buy one or will it not really overheat?

As long as the PC case has decent airflow and not have crazy amount of heat build-up internally and become like a sauna (like the game consoles), the SSD should be fine without a heatsink

Bought a used one from CEX a few months ago and it's been excellent in the PS5. Highly recommend.

£/performance this or 980 pro, 990 pro or wd 850?

I'd get this as its on offer.
Superb performance (esp on writes) and better endurance than the other two. (edited)

Can you show a pic on Crystaldiskinfo? I got mine today and did a few tests with Crystaldiskmark but when I checked with diskinfo it was showing Total host reads and writes of around 500Gb with Power on count=1 and power on hours=0.
Ran another Crystaldiskmark test while Crystaldiskinfo was running and it added another 150gb in just one test when I refreshed it. That is alot of reads and writes added by Crystaldiskmark .

Normal copying of a 50Gb game added around 50GB to the total so at least that is normal behaviour.
