This will sound a silly question…. but what would people do about the absence of an operating system?

    Please advise.

I use Linux so I'd install Linux on this if I was to buy it of course

For most people they probably want Windows 11 which is easily sorted out >

Go here and to the section Create Windows Installation Media. It's very simple. Then you need to learn how to boot from USB on this Lenovo >

Once you boot and go through the setup, you can use Windows 11 but you'll need a licence to access all features of Windows 11.

Whats the build quality like on these? Reliable trackpad etc?

Feels very solid but people complained about the hinges failing (breaking off the chassis) on the Ideapad 5 and Lenovo not being helpful - this affects the 14” as well (it came up when I posted it).

I think this is too much for an Ideapad 5 tbh, even with the OLED, at this price you are into Zenbook territory. The lid is metal but the base is durable plastic. Touchpad is nice and smooth, keyboard action is nice but below ThinkPads.

The OLED adds the i7 and adds a lot to the price. The best value is the i5 with the WUXGA or 2.2K displays. (edited)

Good deal! Anyone have any thoughts as to the i5 vs i7 version?

There doesn't seem to be a huge discrepency between the two? (edited)
