sorted byNo issue at all with the sound it produces and it stays in tune well.
After gaining a bit more experience with playing and trying different guitars it became apparent that it was actually more difficult to play than some others due to having a high action (strings high above the frets). This is easily remedied by adjusting the saddle and truss rod after watching a couple of you tube videos.
The frets were also poorly finished on the very edges which was resulting in very fine cuts on the top layer of skin on my hand. Again this was easily fixed by filing them smooth.
I paid £38.28 without a stand or tuner and think it produces a great sound for the cost and have felt no need to upgrade especially after the adjustments.
If you don't want to be involved with adjustments then by all means spend more on a higher quality instrument. For the money this sounds good.
If you have the experience to tell what's wrong with a guitar and the skill to correct those defects, then I guess you can save money via a DIY route.
Indeed, I've had to "finish" a few decent budget guitars. They left the factory 90% of the way there, and needed a bit of fret tidy-up.
The problem is when an unsuspecting parent buys an unfinished guitar or worse, one with bad hardware or serious alignment issues (like the bridge positioned wrongly) and gives it to a beginner.
The poor kid will be battling against high action, poor intonation, tuning instability and maybe just give up, and put playing guitar into the never again bin.
There are so many affordable great guitars on the market as well as FX units, it's worth paying a bit more in a local guitar shop when starting.
