sorted byBased on comments above regarding the what not to haves. Less is definitely more, this is possibly the kind of alternative to look at.
- rear suspension (avoid like the plague unless you're spending £1000+)
- steel frame (ditto. Or if it's a SH bike from the 90s).
- front suspension (it's OK if it has a lockout and can be adjusted - this doesn't)
- quill stems (like steel frames these belong in the 20th century)
- unbranded parts (usually it's couple of cheap Shimano Tourney parts among a selection of unbranded parts so they can put a "Shimano equipped" sticker on it).
- claims like "cotterless crank" (this was a selling point in 1980, now it's just normal).
- brand names like "Muddyfox" (they went bust years ago and were bought by Mike Ashley so he can stick it on whatever cheap junk he wants to).
In addition this will be totally bottom tier quality. (edited)
