Based on comments above regarding the what not to haves. Less is definitely more, this is possibly the kind of alternative to look at.

This is a much better option at this price.

Almost certain signs that what you're looking at is a BSO (Bike SHaped Object) not a bike include:

    - rear suspension (avoid like the plague unless you're spending £1000+)
    - steel frame (ditto. Or if it's a SH bike from the 90s).
    - front suspension (it's OK if it has a lockout and can be adjusted - this doesn't)
    - quill stems (like steel frames these belong in the 20th century)
    - unbranded parts (usually it's couple of cheap Shimano Tourney parts among a selection of unbranded parts so they can put a "Shimano equipped" sticker on it).
    - claims like "cotterless crank" (this was a selling point in 1980, now it's just normal).
    - brand names like "Muddyfox" (they went bust years ago and were bought by Mike Ashley so he can stick it on whatever cheap junk he wants to).

Please do the kids a favour and don't get this crap for them, might look nice but it's a piece of crap. Look on eBay and you'll find much better kids bikes used but for better money.

Ignoring quality for a moment, because even though it's awful, it'll probably last long enough for a lot of children, the big issue is this style of bike is that its so heavy (often double weight) that a kid is going to struggle to lift/handle it. Just get a standard no suspension job, light, simple, cheap, robust.

This. We got given a bike like this and it weighs more than my own adult downhill bike! Crazy.

Do avoid, as others say. Apart from everything else, this is a heavy, heavy bike for a child. The same money on a second hand bike, or a new Decathlon bike, will get you so much more.

It's cheap for a reason, don't touch even with a stick, if you care about your children stay away. As mentioned above it not a bicycle it's BSO.

Avoid house of fraser, Evans Cycles and Sports direct, all part of the same brand with absolutely 0 customer service. If there are any issues at all you are totally stuffed. They do not care one bit.

In addition this will be totally bottom tier quality. (edited)
