If you used a decent USB C to USB C cable, would the data transfer speed be better? (edited)

???- 10Gbps or around 1000MB (one giga-byte) per second. Around twice the USB 2 speed of 480MB. NO your better cable will not magically redesign the controller chip in the enclosure (how would that even work?).

A would suggest a little googling to master the issue of current USB limits, and current controller chip limits at various price ranges.

Note the shell is locked in place by a plastic end piece which - if you're as cack-handed as I am - is very easy to break on first use

Which, I'm sure, a wrap of sellotape 'fixed'. It is known that the lowest cost enclosures (SSD and NVMe) are value for money, but not robust. Robustness, for data value reasons, is worth paying another tenner or so for.

Good price, I've used a few Orico NVMe enclosures and never had a single issue with them.
