Silly RRP - been around this price for a long time. Been researching these irons for a few months now, waiting on the right one to come down to the right price (old one given up the ghost after 5 years).

This one has a lot of poor reviews - enough to concern me

I've been mulling over and back with brands and models.. could I be so bold to ask what model you're holding out for? Thanks

Just checked. Thats how business works now. Argos brought price down then amazon and currys had to . Seems like case with all products :/

Same issue as others...18months in and steam just peters out. Sent it back outside warranty...some improvement but not a great model. No heat sensor is good

I have a Tefal at the moment which is great how do these compare

I changed from a Tefal to Philips and never looked back.

In my experience, the Tefal wasn't made as well. I fact, mine packed up after about a year.

My Philips one has been going for years.

i have a Phillips one and I really rate it, couldn’t go back o a standard iron now. It isn’t this model though, my Phillips looks a bit more robust and with a full handle. Not sure Inwould go for this one if i were committed to spending this amount. (edited)

I have had this iron for a few years it’s the best one I have owed, no temperature dial you can go from denim to silk really good steam too. I might get this for a spare
    loopz's avatar
How does that work? Presumably you can't move immediately without it melting silk?

I've had this exact model just over two years and it doesn't produce steam like it should any more. I've read similar stories and am most dissapointed. I couldn't recommend to be honest as I would expect better from Philips.

I've had two of these, but each one loses steam ability after about 18months. I regularly de calc and I only iron for an hour a week. So even though I loved the no temperature feature and you can iron anything without a cloth, I've had to change.

Don’t have this model but got the PerfectCare Elite Steam generator iron and going well since nov 2019. I’ve had to put some tape on main handle as developed a crack (perhaps from knock) but steam still very good. We are in a soft water area though.

It’s our second Philips steam generator and think the first one lasted a few years as well.

Expensive but difficult to go back to a normal steam iron after you get used to these.

I got this one. (so can't compare it to others) but compared a standard iron this is a game changer. I no longer use my standard iron as its too slow and I don't get the same crispy finish. It is heavy and chunky. Fortunately I have a permanent spot in my spare bedroom which I just leave it open to use and not have to pack this away.

As this has mixed reviews - is there any that someone would actually recommend?

Don’t normally comment on posts but I must warn that the steaming function is a known issue with this iron!

Starts off great, but steam output very quickly diminishes until there is eventually none ~takes about 16 months of usage before it becomes unusable. Couldn’t do anything about it since it took us about 18 months from buying the iron to move into the new home, and warranty expired by the time that performance decreased.

Have tried about 20 calc cleans but nothing and saw a lot of comments saying similar on reviews. (edited)
