Thanks for posting. I ordered the iron it’s a fab price and it over £50 on Amazon the free stuff is a bonus. I got it delivered for a £1. I paid £39 in total and didn’t manage to get the free biscuits but I’m gluten free anyway so probably for the best. Heat from me and I didn’t know you could put a iron in with your food shop.

Misslovely

Are you going to iron your pants or tuna?

As you wish...

its definitely not a grey area, cannot say any more :)

TopTrump

It's a bit of a grey area who designs it and who manufactures it. The Braun iron I bought a few months ago, made in Hungary in facilities that used to be directly owned by Braun. Most De'longhi's are either made in Italy or the far East. The quality of Braun's switches and the materials used are better than most. Just comparing the soleplate, the important bit, most slap on some short-lived non-stick coating to avoid having to use high quality stainless steel which requires more effort to create a smooth surface. Braun's uses a multilayer metal finishing process to offer durability and ease of use. It's that attention to detail that other brands tend to skip, especially at this price point.

eslick

Braun domestic goods (only kitchen appliances) are now made by De'longhi, Braun licensed the name to them a while ago so all of this type of items are designed by De'longhi themselves, like many of the De'longhi family of brands.

TopTrump

Superb iron with well thought-out design. Braun's domestic goods have always had an emphasis on being simple to use, understated design but above all functional and well executed. I'm not 100% sure if Debenhams posted accurate pictures on their site. Their second image denotes it's got an auto-shut feature also. A quick check with Braun's site seems to indicate it doesn't (but you can always state Debenhams' product description images misinformed you, if the delivered item you receive doesn't have it and claim a refund, or some other arrangement, if it's important for you to have it). Longer than average cable length. Most have whittled it down to 1.8 metres, this comes with 2.4-ish of braided cable that doesn't kink very easily. Very good quality soleplate. You're not going to find a similarly specced quality iron at this price, with or without the auto shut-off function.

This might sound silly but we had to replace a black iron like this recently as we couldn’t see the settings on the dark dial in low light

I Agree. I’ve had this iron 2 years and It’s great.

Cracking iron. Last Azur lasted 8 years before a fall finished it off. Picked this one up last year, well worth the money.

I have a local John Pye auction warehouse near to where I live. If your not familiar with this set up they auction on the internet hundreds of different items ranging from electrical, furniture, in fact you could find almost anything there on viewing day.The item they have tend to be faulty returns, unwanted items, warranty repairs, bankrupt stock, ect etc . No warranties, no refunds, no returns. Over the past few months I have seen hundreds of these irons and inspected dozens of them, all had burnt sole plates, so I would imagine they are a bit dodgy, but you pay your money and takes your choice.

If you have been using ironing water with this iron, then the brown gunk is related to using the wrong/high temperature setting on coloured items you wear. Nothing to do with the iron per se My last philips iron with ceramic plate lasted over 10 years until my house-mate decided to use it.... even with cleaning solutions it was gone. Hence I needed a new iron. I would occasionally use ironing water but often use tap water and the calc-clean button which would spit out white deposits which you would have to rub off before using it on clothes. I understand this item has a tray to collect this - fantastic. edit --- using the iron, the temperature setting is very easy to accidentally change during use and the you have to get use to having a steam trigger under your index finger. So far, works well, even has a handy cord guide included for free.

Nicol6381

It has self clean button that appears to make a ridiculous amount of very hot steam come out the holes blowing all the crap and deposits that gather.

dealerxxx

How would you clean an iron? Never thought of it

antonykathryn

Sadly it has a bad habit of leaving brown gunk on every white item you iron. Ive had one 1 year and it's done it since new even though we use ironing water.

Obone_Kanobe

For this reason alone wont be buying one again... Irons used to last for a long time... This is wasteful.
