Same here, ended u going for the model up which is on offer for £360 at the moment .

Bugger, Murphy law, when I need an iron like this, they’re all back to a higher price!!

same price at John Lewis and currys

We bought this for £194 in Jan 2017 This seemed like a lot of money for an iron, but we have a large family and we have a lot of ironing. So the cost of the iron is paid back by the extra time that we can spend together as a family. My wife was a bit sceptical when we bought it, but now says that it is the best iron that we have ever had and ironing takes 1/4 of the time that she had spent with the old iron The hotukdeals link takes you to the amazon website and the price appears to have gone up BUT if you look bottom right, you have an option to buy it from amazon for £169

Paid £210 for his at the turn of the year, fantastic iron and I was really sceptical about it, butcan confirm the no burn feature does actually work!

fully fletched Amazon purchase. Not sure what might have gone wrong, on the flip-side Amazon have great customer service and easy return.

Just got mine. Standard Philips packaging inside an Amazon labelled brown box. And brand new and steaming perfectly. Sorry to hear of your experience. Are you sure it wasnt a fulfilled by Amazon purchase?

few days back I got this trough Amazon, unlike your conventional Amazon packaging, this came in a plastic bag, so badly packaged that arrived damaged and it went back the same day (amazon rejected my 1 star review (annoyed) ) not to mention that it looked like the box has been open and put back in hurry Bought the same from Curry's, £39.99 .. good value for money!

I think this was called something ridiculous like the Man Iron before hence the "manly" colour scheme... (lol) (lol) ..or as Stuff Magazine put it... Finally, a testosterone-fuelled decreaser, just for blokes..... (poo)

I think I have a model down from this and its lasted me 4 years maybe more.

For those who would like a cordless ceramic plated steam iron:

Some of the reviews seem to say it has a short cord but it seems it's standard length at 2m.

Tefal GV6840 Effectis Anti-Scale High Pressure Steam Generator £104.99 Amazon
Found 30th MarFound 30th Mar
Cheapest this has been. Was at £112 last week. Argos are next cheapest at £114.99. Very good steam gen for the price. 2 Year Guarantee as well

A lot more steam than normal irons but our (different Tefal model) has started to splutter water along with the steam (after 18 months) despite changing the anti calcium filter and only using deionised water. Main problems with these as I see it is cost of deionised water (as scale filters are also expensive and not 100%). Initial purchase price is about 4 or 5 times ordinary steam irons and number of extra parts make it more likely that something will go wrong. If I bought another I'd want at least a 3 year warranty.

If you iron a lot then you'll notice you get through it a lot quicker.

Are these noticeably better than a standard iron?

Thank you. ordered. Mrs will be happy. :D

I bought this a couple of weeks ago for £20. Was ok, but steam was a bit hit & miss & couldn’t get into corners very well. Just seemed a bit chunky & not very smooth. Also steam holes only around the edge. Took it back & got this Philips. Cost £19 (now gone up to £39 but might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere) but seems so much more powerful even though power output is supposedly the same?!
