Price is great, Ambilight is great but please be aware the OS on this tv is Saphi - in-house Philips software. It's slow, not that intuitive and overall there is a reason why the higher spec models use the faster and more intuitive Android OS. I've had both Saphi and Android versions and would seriously opt for the next size down android philips tv if budget is in constraint.
Ambilight however really has been a game changer for me and a serious reason to consider Philips TV's in a market with so much competition.
Android versions start PUS XX (tvsize) 85 or higher. 81 series are Saphi. If in doubt keep scrolling down on amazon there is usually a comparison table to check the OS. If you see google or Android you will be getting the faster more intuitive OS.

just got the 55" version from richer sounds for the warranty for £419.

just beware the TV software is VERY slow. I use a firestick for the smart TV functions but the main menus are slow to respond.
Ambilight is brilliant though and was the reason i got it.
Picture quality for 4k HDR and Xbox series S content is brilliant.

I second this. Love the Ambight but my god the software is awful. Fire stick overcomes this!

I have ambilight and the background lights are great. Don't care about software since I use fire stick and android TV ,I don't understand why so many people are concerned with TV software anyway. The one thing I don't like is the colours that tend to be a bit dull

Agreed, My colours seem dull, I messed with the settings and the game mode looks better but still not as good as my LG.

    Damn the warranty.
I've heard these can fail easily within 5 years

had a previous model (I assume, same size) for around 4 years now, no issues

HDR+ is horrible... it made people have 2 faces on fallout series for me... i had to disable it... so weird!

That is very odd. HDR is only about colour and brightness, should not introduce artifacting like that. Have you tested any other hdr10+ content?

I have a Philips Ambilight TV and love the ambilight but little else. Philips or TPV (a chinese firm who purchased the name) are terrible for home and audio and their customer service is appalling. My advice would be to avoid

Got the 55 one it's been moved to the kitchen now it's ok but we don't really worry that much about visuals really as long as it's acceptable but one thing that is bad about this is how low the volume is, it's really really low might have to hook something up to it.
It's hooked up to sky so we just use that but when i've used the TV for prime or youtube it's been fine, no issues at all.
The ambilight looks great on the wall though (edited)

Had one for 6 years now - a saphi model not android - all good, reckon android will be better. I do everything over a fire stick. The ambilight is not a life changer but cool. Only complaint is too many repeats.
