What are people`s experiences with batteries when buying a second hand laptop?

I got one from these other day with app20 code, but I dared to be a bit different and got a thinkpad t490 with 3700u for 207 all in.

Battery died after 20 minutes after showing 100% all the time. Charged it, has been great since, get on average 4 and half hours on 50% brightness with YouTube playing the whole time.

Generally though, you can get a brand new battery for these laptops off ebay for about 30 quid.

It is a good processor for work purpose, but I would be wary on 8GB ram limitation

I already have a good laptop and a Chromebook and a couple of tablets, so I don't need any more PCs in my life, what would I use it for, no idea but just ordered anyway!

Good laptop but 8gb ram.... Ladtitude 7 series Ram is not upgradable if i remember correctly...
    bobo53's avatar
I think it is, this one can be upgraded to dual channel but not sure if the original ram is actually soldered. (edited)

Potentially a dual channel but soldered and no proper slots at all. Better to ask if the 8gb is dual or single. (edited)

Put the make and model into the Crucial website, it'll tell you

8gb RAM is more than enough for basic use, such as web browsing and doing school homework. This should great for school kids for example.

I recently bought 2 x HP Elitebooks with a similar spec for £180 refurbished and they are awesome. Metal case, solid build and very performant.

Hi did you get the HP elite books from the same seller, may I ask what model are they?I like a metal case and a solid built machine.Thank you

The ssd has just failed on one of these, only had it 2 years. Thought it would of lasted longer. It was from itzoo.

Very tempted to. Great price for these specs

Better than the one that was posted with the 8350u?
    plewis00's avatar
Newer CPU and slimmer design on the 7310 but RAM is soldered down (but is faster and dual-channel). 7310 is 2 generations newer.

    This one or Lenovo T480?
    TIA
    plewis00's avatar
7310 has a faster more modern CPU and thinner, stiffer chassis. T480 is 8th Gen pre-refresh, an older design but has expandable memory and a slightly larger display - Lenovo X13 Gen 1 is the equivalent to the 7310.
