Is this Matt or glossy screen please

Usually matte. Standard screens are poor though you can replace with a much brighter 1080p IPS for about £45 delivered from ajparts. Model is N140HCG-GQ2. You have to insist on the actual model not a replacement, if it's the rev.c1 then you also have to ask for the 14" brackets to be added to the order.
Then follow guides online on how to replace if you're up for it.
Difference is night and day. Colours and brightness are leagues apart.

Is this better than the dell that was posted?

    Define better? It's subjective.

It's Lenovo's equivalent of the Latitude with similar core components. (edited)

£228.74 for 32GB RAM / 512GB SSD seems kind of good, but how worried should I be about "Minor marks/scratching to screen."?

Depends on you.  If you want perfect you can buy new for +£1000

they probly say this to cover themselves if there are any marks   If not then you win a chocolate watch
