  • NO NONSENSE WHISKY: Our &Whisky range was developed without convention - no fuss, no unnecessary lingo, just an impeccable range of whiskies to enjoy on your own terms.
  • 10 YEAR AGED: The single malt scotch whisky is matured for ten years before a quarter of the spirit is finished in oloroso sherry casks to develop a smoky, complex flavour.
  • TASTING NOTES: Expect a rich, powerful sherry on the nose, with a well-balanced yet forceful flavour delivery. A red apple sweetness gives way to oaken-vanilla goodness and fades into embers of a chargrilled well-aged steak.
  • THE SERVE: Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire can be enjoyed with freedom. It’s excellent sipped neat over ice but works well with a mixer of choice, or in a classic winter hot toddy.

The inspiration for &Whisky was simply to present an impeccable range of whiskies in a no nonsense approach. No mentions or images of impressive dates, coats of arms or old regal deer. &Whisky is here to simplify choosing whisky by simply stating everything you need to know about the whisky or its flavour on the front label. No fuss, no long and whimsical paragraphs, just delicious whisky delivering exactly what it says on the bottle, and priced in a way to appeal to every drinker.

This right here is a 10-year-old single malt from an undisclosed distillery on Islay, with 25% of it having been finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks, and bestowed the decidedly descriptive name Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire. If those four words (and three ampersands) aren't quite enough of an explanation of what this expression is all about, here are a few more: stripped-back, smoky, complex, a bit sherried, balanced, coastal. Yeah, that should do it. Great for people who love uncompromising Islay whisky and sans-serif fonts.

This is whisky without tradition, without the fancy labels and lingo, contemporary whisky without convention. This is whisky simplified. Be free to enjoy whisky on your own terms, safe in the knowledge that complexity lies in the bottle, and not outside it. A deliciously smoky Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Enough Said. Serve this however you like, there are no rules. But, if you’d like a little guidance, we think it’s great by itself, with soda as a smokey highball, or in a hot toddy for that perfect winter warmer.

This is a decent peated sherry expression, subtle & less complex than the big Islay brands but it also tastes much better than its age might suggest. Definitely recommended at this price

The cask strength version is on sale for £50 at Master of Malt. Well worth the spending the extra £20 for.

Yes I’ve said many a time the best way to enjoy Laphroaig is via their CS

This triggers a deal alert for Kindle Fire.
That's odd, since it's not mentioned. (ah maybe its the Fire 10, or it wants me to drink...I can't I'm allergic, curse you God for making me this way.....)

Not tried this. I've had the cask strength, which is lovely and great value when on offer.

What do we think this is? Rejected laphroaig?

I did note that the cask strength version of this is 56.5%, which is exactly the same as the Laphroaig 10 cs.

Having said that, most unbranded Islay stuff comes from Caol Ila.

If it is rejected laphroaig, then the 17 year old version might need attention at £70:

This always comes up with undisclosed Islay bottlings.
The vast vast majority are Caol Ila and for now will be due to their capacity. The Kidalton distilleries simply don’t have enough “spare” stock to dish out to Indies. You might see the odd one but Laphroaig are running at full LPA as it is to satisfy their core range and the odd Indy without supplying a major online retailer.
