    This or 18-105? They just look identical but this Carl Zeiss...

    I had it for years.

    It is a decent lens, but the Zeiss badge is not reflected in the image quality superiority (it barely does nowadays). It is one of the oldest E-mount standard zoom. The Sony branded lenses are very good nowadays if not sometimes better.

    I would say it largely depends on the optical specs you need, i.e., zoom range, aperture, etc.

    I have had this lens for years, lens is ok, but not what I would call Zeiss quality.

    Lens tests, on YT, I just watch Christopher Frost. Iirc he's said in the past something similar wrt Zeiss and not being great.
