32t chainring? And 11T small sprocket? You won't be going anywhere fast with this and will be spinning out at about 15mph!
I know it's a mountain bike but is that normal?

For a 1x up front set up, 32t and 11-42t is right in the normal range, given the usual focus with this type of bike is more on being able to grind up stuff at 32 x 42 than cruise at 32 x 11.

My enduro bikes are usually set up 30 and 11-50, but I've occasionally swapped out for a 32t on all day pedally routes.

That said, despite it being normal for most enduro/trail riders, I think it's still a slightly odd configuration for the types of people who will buy this particular bike.

Given it's probably going to see more canal paths than anything else, it might have made sense to go for a dual ring up front and give the flexibility for commuting etc. (edited)

I just ordered it for £329 and it’s not arrived yet. Do you think they will refund the difference?

The best way, canceled it and buy again I think..

General question on wheel size. Im looking for a hard tail for 15 min commute plus a bit of off road stuff. Im 6ft so I have seen people say go for 29’s but others say for commute 27.5 better as nippier.

There is a lot more choice for road tyres with 29" but 27.5" is stronger and more abuse-able everything else being equal as shorter spokes. Generally though I would say it doesn't matter it is more about the whole package of gears, suspension etc. At this end of the price scale there are a lot of compromises so try to avoid the big compromises and get a well rounded bike. I personally wouldn't go for a hardtail for commuting as I'd be lugging about front suspension which isn't needed for the road. I personally think the best all round bike for general use is the Carrera Subway, it's basically a hardtail mountain bike but instead of a front suspension fork it has rigid forks. This makes it lighter, faster, lower maintenance and more versatile than a hardtail mountain bike plus if you really wanted to take up proper off-road mountain biking you just need to install a front suspension fork and you can always return it to a rigid fork for other uses.

Don't forget the low weight limits of Decathlon bikes, typically about 100kg max load including bike weight. The wheels here are only 28 spoke so not ideal for heavier riders and will more easily come out of true. The forks look pretty awful, sub Suntour XC quality. However the drivetrain isn't bad with a wide range cassette. Mechanical disc brakes. Overall I think its ok for the money but not a mega bargain. I would definitely look what else is available for £320.
