You can this chrome extension as an alternative to buying premium.

    https://www.sauce.llc/
Free and gives you extra stats instead of buying Strava Premium.
For route planning sign up at dashboard.hammerhead.io/auth/signup and planning and exporting your routes to GPX is free. You don’t need a hammerhead device to sign up. (edited)

I have used the free version of Strava along with Garmin Connect for years. Does anyone see Strava Premium as value for money? Are there any VPN tricks for it? Thanks

It offers nothing you can't get on Garmin connect other then s busier segments system so unless you're into showing off / communicating with mates through it's a waste of money.

I use Runalyze in addition to Garmin connect for the slightly different way it presents some data and that is free too

Looking for something I can use to identify nicer roads to cycle on. I often have 2-3 hours free but I haven't established any local routes so I end up spending ages trying to plan something and going nowhere.

Is Strava worth it purely to discover local rides/routes?

I automatically renew each year. Anyway of using this to buy in advance?

Cancel you DD and renew the payment at the end of the year. Im sure you can do Addons with STRAVA otherwise your loosing out big time. You could try your suggested thoughs. Im sure someone did what you said with a 3 months free trail and it added in to his current subscription. That worked

I don't bother with it anymore. I used to get it with a Brazilian VPN for <£20 a year. It's now about £25 which is a saving still. I used my curve card about 18 month ago without issue.

Even at £25 I can't see the value in it. Other than gloating. Most watches, Garmin, Suunto, Fitbit all other a functional app that will plan training and monitor progress.

£25 a year to have some helmet on a bike come take your record....Nah.51840413-aVoQn.jpg (edited)

Cheers OP. Been in a recurring renewal for some time (expired yesterday). I cancelled my subscription when I saw this and just renewed at the discounted price. Easy saving for a few clicks!!

I use the free version and all the data is available via the Garmin app too or whatever app your using. The strong side of STAVA is they now do routes for you. Garmin also has this and if you have a new headset you can do it all via the headset now.

I would like to hear the thoughts on how people use STRAVA when all the data is available on the recording device and what they use that data for? Or is it a matter of how many likes you get from your followers

Mine due to renew in Feb. Can I use this then??

I like the route planner, the training plans and the fitness/ freshness / power curve at a glance

For more detailed analysis I use Golden Cheetah

Had premium and standard versions. Personally don't think its worth the extra £40+ for live segments, relative effort, leaderboard position on segments outside of top ten etc. Never used the create route option, do that on the fly depending how you feel on the day personally.

51841334-B6cxS.jpgI have cancelled my Premium subscription - due to renew in January. I have used it since 2015. Here's a list of some of the other benefits you get. Routes are very handy, especially if you travel around a bit and want to know the best place to run / cycle. The Best Efforts feature is quite good too if you want to look at performance over time but I kinda just remember. If you want to link to Veloviewer then you need a Premium subscription.

I'm going to give it a rest and see what I miss. The code doesn't work after cancelling my sub BTW. Assuming this is the same for everyone?

Maybe the code is not working because even though you have cancelled your sub, the renewal is not until January, so technically you are still on premium until expiry date.

Has it worked for any1 who has cancelled their subscription?
    SpamJavelin's avatar
    Not for me, see above.
  15. khas01's avatar
Not worked - mine renews in April. I have cancelled it and emailed strava.

Hiding your yearly stats for Premium users only is a scummy move

Since they did this, they have introduced quite a lot of new features and improved the app. I'm happy to subscribe if they reinvest in the platform. Why should it be free?

Is there any way of using Google Play credit to get this deal? Seems to to take you to the website, even from the link within the mobile app.
