If you buy a bike and bike carrier from
halfords you get 20% off (automatically applied at checkout). This also stacks with their 10% off if you spend over £30 they have at the moment (MOTORING10)

I ordered the Thule easyfold XT (which fits through my loft hatch when not using) along with the £35 child’s balance bike (which we already have and has been excellent as a first bike).
Ordered at 4pm, delivered by 3pm the next day FOC and then I’ve just taken the child’s bike back and was refunded £35.
Bike carrier cost me £460.80 after this

If you don't care about the name, Halfords own-brand one carries four bikes on the towbar a fair bit cheaper. It doesn't fold, but just about fits in the boot of Mk4 Mondeo (edited)

Painfully expensive, but by all accounts worth the money (and the reviews I've read were about full price). Heat added

If you have a recent manufacter fitted towbar which is Fix4Bike compatible (they have a couple of extra lug things to secure the carrier), then get this 4 bike Thule carrier for £440 - swedishcaraccessories.co.uk/fix…asp

I like that the 4th bike is optional, so I can configure it as a smaller 3 bike carrier if I'm taking my two children for a ride by myself.

That's the one I have and it's brilliant. There is a step lever which you can tilt the whole bike rack (with your bikes on it) to access your boot without the need to take the bikes off.

Wow, can't believe how expensive these are now, I have the 4 bikes version, I think I paid about this price a couple of years ago. I know, I know, time machine and all that

I paid £160 for 4 bike one few years ago.... Crazy.

Thing with these is they're really well built so mine from about 6 years ago is still perfect, holds 4 bikes & flips up, so you can get in the boot. so buy an old one for about £100!

Did anyone else use this trick? Thinking about it myself but don't know if staff will be funny or care about the 20% discount on the rack? I guess if they are you can just return the whole thing. I only get 5% off gift cards on my workplace scheme (edited)

I was half expecting them to query it but they didn’t bat an eyelid, they actually sold me the child’s bike with the 20% off but refunded it at full price…
Anyway, if they did question it my plan was to sell the child’s bike on eBay etc as it would be easy to sell and post as it was in the sealed box.
Have since used the bike carrier btw and it’s great!
