This also works with Home Assistant and I have a few works as energy consumption monitor. They are quite good.

Same here, rarely use the on/off but just started playing with energy monitoring.

The best thing about these is setting lights to switch on at x-hours before dusk so I don't have to keep squeezing behind the sofa to manually change timer switches.

The exact reason I bought some for my parents.

This is about the price I normally pay for these.

What devices are people using smart plugs for? I doubt I could connect no more than a kettle, slow cooker, or a couple of lights. Almost everything else requires the physical intervention to activate a device. And only one would benefit me being able to turn it on remotely.
I can see the point of consumption monitoring, but once measured, you'll have no need to measure again, so one cheap pass thru plug in meter would do the job for every item.

I have a few air purifiers on smart plugs. They either have analogue switches, or default to the last setting when powered back up. I also have all my TV and lights plug extensions on smart plugs. And 2 plug-in heaters. I can switch everything off/on using voice commands when I leave/come home, go to bed etc. I've even managed to persuade my Mum to use them in her home

Fans, electric fly zapper, dishwasher and dehumidifier to schedule for cheap electricity. Christmas tree lights in December.

Sounds like you are spending money to see how much money you spend! Although with energy prices these could save you £
