I've got the disc version of this and it's great. Such a comfy riding position (5'10" and on a 54 frame)

This is why I'm sceptical buying a bike online. I know they might have returns policies but it's hassle. I'm not a keen cyclist, but I'm tempted to pick it up and have a bike already (it's a heavy mountain bike)...
Anyway, in 5'10 as well so it's good to learn what others my height are using. I'd still personally prefer to try. Due to having a back injury in the past I'd rather avoid the guidance and go with what feels best for me.
Now all I need is a few hundred quid spare!

Nice deal, but I think that unless you're specifically wanting rim brakes I'd personally spend a little extra and get the AL 2 Disc. Further to that, you can then get the 105 groupset for a very reasonable price and have a superb bike for a lot less than retail.

You can get wider tubeless tyres and valves for disc version of this, then all set for gravel also.

8 speed? My 25 year old Cannondale Caad3 with Dura-Ace groupset and spinergy wheels was 9 speed.

This bike reminds me of Lance

Meh. More gears = more expense, weight and things to go wrong. How many gears do you really need?
